Does anyone have first-hand experience of a quality body shop in the Sheffield/Chesterfield area? I've had few good experiences over the years, which has been really frustrating, and am just looking for someone to help get my Superb looking as good as it can be, in terms of minor paintwork attention, and for a fair sum.

Do you mean paint spraying and bodywork or just detailing.

If the former I've used two recently:

Fix Auto near Malock who were good but slow on an insurance job but pretty expensive when I contacted them direct about another issue.

Westside Motors in Sharrow, Sheffield who are a bit 'backstreet' but gave good results at very competitive prices the last twice I've used them.

Hmmm, the first one doesn't sound so promising, but perhaps the second one. They sound a bit like John Bee on Abbeydale Road, who I cannot recommend, but I'll look into them, thank you. I have used P&W Automobile Services in Neepsend, and whilst I have no major complaints, I just didn't feel welcome there; I felt the chap didn't really want to help, which is odd, because I was willing to pay of course and felt like I was just a bother and wasting his time. Maybe I just caught in on a bad day.

John Bee would be a bit more upmarket than Westside but as you say I codnt recommend them after an experience a long time ago when I got a repair back that leaked badly after they forgot to seal between body panels.

Westside seem straight and down to earth though and I'd go back again with no qualms.

Just responding to this point about detailing; in Chesterfield you have the Detailing Detectives. The fella who runs it is Craig and he's very well-trained and very-experienced. He sits on the Board of the UK chapter for the International Detailers Association and approved member on the Professional Detailers and Valeters Association. Wouldn't think twice about giving my car to him to sort out however was needed.
