Rear disc Fabia mk2

Featured Replies

Hello. I wonder did anyone tried to fit the brake disk on the rear axle? I saw some adapters for calipers but I don't know is the master cylinder big enough to make it work properly.

Not tried but looked at doing this on my old MK2 estate when towing a van, master cyl;inder is ok but you need a load of parts to convert ,Discs, Pads, Calipers, Carriers Mounting brackets and bolts, Hand Brake Cables and clips, New Brake Hoses New hubs and ABS sensors as they are different from the drum brake type as you cannot emit them you will get a red warning ABS failed on the dash, I ended up changing the front 256mm discs and carriers and calipers for the bigger 282mm discs calipers and carriers that improved the braking enough not to bother with the rear drums. In all unless you can get good refusbished parts it will be exensive for not much gain, if it's looks you are after try painting the drums much easier and a lot cheaper ,also the handbrake is more reliable, we have a MK3 estate now and the disc handbrake is not a patch on the drum brake handbrake and in fairness don't notice that much difference in braking between the disc and drum on the rear but the front upgrade did

There are more threads than these posted over the past 15 years if you look for them.

I have factory 288mm brake disc and factory sport suspension (1.6 tdi cayc) but I'm sick of cleaning and adjusting rear drums once a year.

Where i live there is a lot of mountains so I brake a lot. I use hand brake a lot and after 6-8 months the hand brake is in the sky so I need to remove wheels, drums, clean everythnig, adjust it...I had enough of that if you understand me. I looked for the wheel hub and it's the same for disc and the drum so it means that ABS sensor stays the same

Even the rear brakes on a Fabia mk2 vRS are rubbish so even if the had and axle with the disc brake set up you are no better off really.

(Factory Sports Suspension. What is sporty about that?, the word SPORT is about it.)

She has 2cm lower springs

I know what Skoda says they are, vRS and Monte Carlo, then you could have Eibach springs as an option and in the UK they were dealer fitted at the PDI.

Since it is so funny to you, if you want I can give you VIN number so you can check it yourself 🙂

First owner of that car was my mother. She passed away 4 years ago during covid. When she wanted to buy that car, she didn't want alloy wheels, central lock and rest of it. She wanted the strongest diesel, good suspension and AC.

She was pretty fast on the road ☺️

Is it possible?

That makes me think the easiest thing to do is pull a full beam with the brakes on off an old Ibiza/Polo/Fabia.

I've not tried it on one of these cars, but on my old Polo, there was quite a bit of adjustment left in the compensator before the back end was anywhere near to going twitchy.
