Featured Replies

Hiya

I’m looking to get my car serviced, am I bst using 5/30 or 0/20?

What brands are best to go for, or doesn’t that matter?

Thanks in advance

If you are not going to use VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV

But going VW504 00 /507 00 it need not be 5w 30 FS III it can be 0w 30 FS III

Those are for fixed or variable servicing.

But you need not use long life oil you can do fixed oil & filter servicing and use VW502 00.

5w 40 FS.

A dozen different people will give you thirteen or more different answers. I like and use Millers Oils EE Performance and I used their oils (in a different vehicle) and like them plus I like the fact they're a British blender though I've no idea whose base oil they use or whose additives.

Oil weights has been covered in another thread, personally I'd use very good quality Ow-30. As important is the timeliness of the oil changes (and filter for engine and some gearboxes) and the thoroughness of the changes (more old out to get more fresh new oil in) and Dealerships, garages, and mechanics are most often more concerned about speed and ease rather than thoroughness which is why you could well done a better and more thorough job than them.

Have you looked at the oil specification label? (It's stuck to the front when you lift the hood.) I think this engine uses 0w20 VW508 00 / 509 00.

The Factory Fill oil in 2018 was certainly VW508 00 / 509 00. So that is the recommended, advised, oil they guide you to use.

But as shown from the owners manual VW504 00 / 507 00 can be used.

Just not by Skoda / VW Group incase a car was subjected to a WLTP test as it was imported into a country.

There was a reason they went 0w 20 FS IV pre WLTP Certification was started.
