Help buying used Superb

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New to the forum here and just looking for some advice, I posted in a different section of this website and was told to try here.

I’m looking at purchasing my first Skoda superb mk3 sportline 2.0L 220ps, it’s a 6 speed DSG early 2018. It’s done 60k miles and is in good condition apart from a few dents to the bodywork, some scuffs to the alloys and a small section of peeling lacquer. Inside is really in good nick, I’ve taken it for a test drive and it seems smooth and has no noticeable issues. It’s just been serviced and MOTd with no advisory’s and has had 1 owner who’s looked after it. Only thing is he hasn’t really done much mileage in the last year so I think it’s just been doing shorter journeys. I don’t have much experience with cars so just looking for some advice. It’s from a private seller who’s got it on for £15,700.

Thanks

Apart from saying "low mileage" when autotrader states its 3.5k above average, and saying it has 2 owners rather than 1 (who hasn't necessarily looked after it if it has a few dents and alloy scuffs) it looks ok.

For £500 less there's this one with 24,000 miles on it. That's probably because its in the corner of the planet and looks like it could do with a good clean. MOT runs to the end of the year too.

Its also a hatchback compare to your ad which is an estate but there is very little difference in boot size. The hatchback has 625 litres compared to the estate's 660 litres. Put the seats down and you get to take advantage of the roofline/rear screen so gain an extra 200 litres but for me the hatch is an ample car for 2 kids and various long weekends away. Other than that they disclose the rear bumper issue and it needing a service.

I'd plan to look at the latter. Get it to a decent detailer and spend a couple of hundred quid and it'll look spotless inside as well as properly cleaned outside. 35,000 miles is a pretty decent gap.

I would advise to ask for an extended (2h at least) test drive to make sure that the Sportline seats are a good match for you.

I've sold mine after 10 months as the seats were killing my left hip after 1.5 - 2 hours of driving.

Did exactly the same with my Karoq. Sold after 10 months.

L&K Superb for me this time.
