Just avoid all that nonesense and go and get yourself an ODBEleven dongle. It will be a lot less hassle and will give you a proper code readout as opposed to just generic codes.

Okay, yes. Acknowledge the low battery in keyfob. You have two bigger issues: Firstly, the gear selector sensor is faulty. Common problem on VAG cars. Quite an easy fix but you need a new gear select

Sure, that should be fine. That will read codes and allow you to do basic changes and checks.

Also the warm start is only after iv driven to work in the morning about 6 miles then parked up and left all day till I leave at home time around 4pm that's when I have issues starting the car

I wouldn't consider that to be a 'warm' start - engine will have cooled to ambient temperature after 6 to 8 hour stop.

I don't have recent experience with diesels, but it may not be necessary to replace glow plugs if they test OK.

Not sure what explains the trouble starting every time I come to leave work after been sat there all day, but fine every morning when left when home at 4:40pm till the next morning at 6:10am when I leave for work

I do know that TDIs can be sensitive to slow cranking speeds, although I don't know why it would crank OK when dead cold, but not so much after a 6 to 8 hour stop.

Is there an unusual amount of smoke after a slow start?

Yeah after cranking over few times after work it will kick out some smoke but then no smoke once running white smoke presumably air lock or something going on with fuelling system maybe fuel filter ?

White smoke from a diesel can be concerning, I'm trying to recall why.

Blue smoke = oil.

Black = excess fuel.

If I recall correctly, I think white smoke indicates coolant, perhaps someone can confirm.

Is coolant being lost?

No but the car has apparently had dpf delete from what I was told but the white smoke is literally after it cranks over a few times then goes away and doesn't do it again even after I stopped and started again

Have you had any MOT issues with the DPF delete?

I haven't had a MOT as I've only had it 6 months to recently find out it had a dpf delete and the dealership did an MOT before I bought it

So, unless the DPF delete has been done in a manner that it is visually undetectable, that dealers MOT is probably worthless, I wonder what else the tester missed?

Was this an 'approved used' vehicle?

Yeah apparently so

Well, I can't say I'm completely surprised, but I'd imagine that could be very embarrassing to the Dealer concerned if it became public - which it is now of course!

How and when was the delete discovered?

After I bought the car presume the dealer new as it was a part exchange

If the dealer was aware of this illegal modification to the vehicles exhaust, I'd consider that, at the very least, it would give you considerable leverage on addressing other faults.

Do keep in mind that in the UK DPF removal will be a MOT hard failure point if it is detected.

Yeah I later learned this and only was told after I purchased the vehicle that the owner said the previous owner mentioned it had a dpf delete whether it has or not I don't know as iv not taken it to the garage

Bear in mind that the sale of goods act (or whatever it's now called) requires items to be of merchantable quality, AFAIR, it will still apply to your vehicle beyond the warranty period. Worth considering.

Not sure where I'd stand in regards to the goods act would I return the car and receive full refund ? I paid around £7800

Perhaps an approach to the Dealer Principal first to see what their attitude is, can you confirm that it was actually sold to you as 'approved used'?

IIRC, a refund, minus an allowance for mileage travelled since purchase, is likely, excluding the legal aspects of the dealer selling an illegal vehicle.

How would I know if the vehicle was approved used to confirm this

I would think that'd be noted on your sales invoice or the warranty document.

Just looked at the terms of sale and nothing on there stating approved used

No matter, you should still be covered by Consumer Rights Act 2015 as it is now called.

Take a look at what your rights are given the circumstances.

You can also check with Citizens Advice.

Suggest that you try an approach to the dealer principal first though.

Yeah will do thank you , in the meantime the leveling arm I have doesnt come with the metal arm that connects the top of the green lever , I'm wondering if mine will be on to reuse as I'm not sure what I'm to look for when reusing the arm that connects to the top end of the green lever

Morning, just been to Halfords and had battery tested it's at 63% kicking out 400 amps and battery says should kick out 600 and something amps maybe this is what's causing my odd start up when it's left in the sun
