Mystery driving data on MFD

Featured Replies

Hi

We have a 2011 Skoda Citigo. On the multifunction display, there is driving data and I can't figure out what it is. It's my other half's car so I don't drive it too often so I haven't figured out what it means. It's generally the number 40, but sometimes 20. There are no units. It shows the petrol symbol but it's not the range. Anybody know what it means? Pic attached below. I have checked the manual and it doesn't seem to help

Sorry I can't open your file.

But I do wonder why you get the digital copy of the 'Owner's Manual' from where you do instead of getting the specific 'Owner's Manual' as a free VWŠkoda pdf download from the VWŠkoda manuals website, using the VIN will get the one originally issued with the car. - https://www.skoda-auto.com/apps/manuals/Models

Yes I have the original Skoda manual in the car. I'm just in work and didn't have a picture of it saved.

Here's a link to a jpg https://ibb.co/k6yDLPvn

ETA: I'm too slow, image wasn't showing before. 😄

Not that it might matter here but generally landscape photos give more info, particularly for dash as more dials and lights can be seen that might correspond with what's shown.

If no one else comes in with more help and better suggestions I'll have a look at the Owner's Manual later.

ETA:

Average MPG would be my guess.

No definitely not mpg because there’s an mpg data field with the mpg units displayed.

The field in question appears between the range and distance travelled. I turned on the ignition there (didn’t have chance to go for a drive) and it displays 3 hyphens

Average or current fuel consumption?

Is the Citygo definitely from 2011?

Guessing it's a "Version 2" dash.

Definitely not average or instant fuel consumption since I’ve only ever seen whole numbers like 20 or 40. It has me baffled

Fuel range left in tank, "virtual reserve" 20/40 (miles?), at same time as fuel gauge shows low?

Speed limiter?

VW computer brain-fart, display error(s)?

Right, let's spin some stuff down for a start.

Is it a 2011 car (MY, reg year or build year)?

Is it Version 2 dash?

Does the petrol pump come on at same time as 20/40?

Here's a link to a video of the MFD....it's not the first screen with 280mi range....it's the field with - - - and the petrol symbol at the top right

What button/stalk are pressing to get those figure up?

Does the petrol pump go off when in another mode/menu?

It's a Version 2 dash but is it a 2011 car (MY, reg year or build year)?

I'm just pressing the up and down buttons at the end of the right hand stalk

Yes the petrol pump symbol does go off when I go into other data fields

I'm not too sure about the year it was built sorry

So the petrol pump suggests consumption or fuel quantity, the figures or lack of figures can show differently if the car is stationary or going slow, range will relate to previous 50km consumption, even VW can't predict the future (hence not getting away with dieselgate).

Why you see 20 or 40, relating to fuel, I don't know.

Build year doesn't really matter I was just trying to check if this is a 2011 car and not a typo, you can use the car's VIN to find the appropriate Owner's Manual.

The only dealings I've had with a Citigo is a neighbour's where the battery was very low and needed recharging, using an appropriate battery charger maintainer following instructions in the car's Owner's Manual and for charger. He didn't follow my advice and get and use an appropriate charger maintainer later so later still he had to have the RAC and their expensive new battery delivery, fitting and battery 'coding' service, at least they fitted a large AGM battery knowing how little the car was used and how often it sat unused (like many cars particularly of this type).

At first I thought the 40 and speedo needle being at about 40 it might be speed limiter as I know so little of these cars and their dash instrument displays. So I'm at a loss then and again now.

Hopefully a Citigo owner, or other my knowledgeable person than me will be along with an answer for you.

typos

I couldn't recreate it on my car. The petrol pump symbol only show for range but the number has "mi" written after it
