EVS gearbox with AUM engine?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Bought my first Skoda (2002 Octavia 1.8T Amb) yesterday :) .. and while trying to get a handle on all the codes in the service manual I found this site.

A post from a while back lists different combinations of 1.8T engines and gearboxes. My manual lists my engine as AUM and my gearbox as EVS - a combination I couldn't find on this forum  .

Could there be a mis-print in my manual as regards the gearbox?

Also, what is the difference between the EVS (that I have according to the manual) and the ESV gearboxes?

Thanks for your time!

/Witz

Hi again, Witz. ETKA lists 35 different gearbox codes. The EVS is a 5 speed manual gearbox paired with the AGU and AUM engines in some Octavia models. The AUM is the original cable throttle 1.8T engine and the AUM is the later variable valve timing drive-by-wire (VVT DBW) version. There isn't an ESV gearbox.

Ok, so the mis-print was here on the forum. Good to know, was a bit worried that I had gotten an older, cheaper gearbox :o .

Btw, excellent response from this community! Very glad to have found it!

Witz
