What have you done to your Kodiaq today?

Hi,

Had the engine oil and oil filter changed today by my local dealer since my 'blue bear' has now 45000km on the clock.

I had also asked for a Haldex oil change with Haldex pump strainer cleaning but there was a misunderstanding and they forgot to stock the Haldex pump o-rings and screws kit. This is thus postponed by the end of August.

Not so bad...

They also made an ECU recall action to update the SW. I'll pay more attention on next drives, but I feel like engine is less 'groaning' when I accelerate in lower gears. It's like it can accelerates more frankly, it's less linear. Since I've got it, I had sometimes the impression, that the handbrake was on (to some extent) when starting off at stop signs or traffic lights.

As I also had trubbles with DriveGreen menu, I asked them if I was doing something wrong, since I had succeeded in activating the menu, but it didn't display anything. They told me it's normal, because the DriveGreen menu is not available anymore on Kodiaq Mk1 FL. The menu can be activated, but the SW code lines may have been removed. It doesn't display any score value anymore. No histogramms waving depending on foot pressure on the throttle. Neverminds...

  • Have driven 460 000 km without major problems.

  • Impossible! You couldn’t possibly have done 460,000km today! Some rough maths say that would take over 600 tanks of fuel (at a generous 750km/tank)… at 5 minutes to fill and pay for each, that’s over

A 500km trip today. I can confirm my "blue bear" behaves much better, when I need to rev up on lower gears. No more "groaning". It sounds like it has been "freed" a bit 😄. I guess this SW update has reset the DSG to factory settings and erased the self learning from the previous owner...

Very pleased with that! 😃

took it to Helsinki and back again for the second time in 2 weeks. It complained on the way home about oil level.

Since it was 2030 and I was somewhere 60kms off Jyväskylä, I was kinda happy to have a half liter in the boot. Put that in a supermarket car park (one open til 9) then went for ice cream. No more warnings.
Been probably 10000km since the service, so I'm not that surprised.

Hi,

Few new VCDS modifications tonight. But I didn't took time to check that they're working:

- Display of the fuel tank top-up quantity on the VC

- Display of the G-meter (very useful for my TDI 🤣)

- Changed the corner lights cut-off speed (40 --> 60 km/h)

I still have 3 more in mind, plus a 4th that seems stubborn (the coding is accepted, but nothing's happening 😬, I keep searching).

Truth test tomorrow for today's 3...

If they're OK, I'll update the dedicated post with VCDS mods. ;)

washed it. And saw someone's smacked it, there's a nice little dent in the passenger wing. With paint loss.

also managed to put a loooong scratch in the clearcoat on the bonnet while washing, so.... hmm. Will be getting a quote for a panel repaint or two, I think. Door also needs done, so... it's not quite a complete respray but it's closer than I would like.

Hi,

Made one of the most favorite VCDS mod : "Stop and Start settings" tuned with VCDS to make it less 'invasive'. Coding will be shared in the dedicated thread. 😉

But I still struggle with 2 VCDS mods :

  • Needle sweep when putting contact ON. Coding is accepted, but nothing happens on my VC... 🤔

  • Activating Easy entry on both driver and passenger seats.

Errr... Possibly I forgot to open the bonnet. 🤭 Not used to this. This is the 1st VAG car I own, which requires this. I owned 5 other VAG car before this one. Never had to it. Will try another day... 😄

Hi,

2 new VCDS mods tonight:

  • Activated Easy entry for both driver and passenger seats. It works much better with bonnet opened indeed 🤭

  • Activated the regular Cruise Control (in addition to, not instead of ACC)

Coding will be shared in the dedicated thread, of course. 😉

Found other codings but not tested yet:

  • Reduce ping-pong effect of Lane Assist

  • Add tolerance for predective ACC

  • 1 month later...

Hello,

Since during the previous service, there was a misunderstanding within the dealer team and they hadn't ordered the parts to clean the Haldex pump, I had to postpone the Haldex oil change.

Work done today by my dealer (since it's still under warranty):

- Oil change of the Haldex + cleaning of the pump strainer

- Replacement of the air, cabin, and fuel filters.

I'm starting off from a known basis now. 🙂

The next job will probably be to replace the front and rear brake pads, as they're well worn (though still far from the minimum).

But since the front ones "knock" each time I brake in reverse during maneuvers, I won't push them till the end. This will also be an opportunity to switch to ATE ceramic brake pads to avoid black brake dust. 😉

it was truly gross on the front so I finally pulled the trigger on some coins for the local pressure wash, hit it with some foam and then took it to the summer house, where I spent an hour or so removing insects from teh front.
This week then it needs a clay, seal and wax. Probably taking it to Europe in a week. The pics are from when it was clean. And yes, the light is pretty good :)

Did you forget to attach them ? 😉

Hi,

Not today but last week. And not me, but someone else generously let me a nice dent on my passenger door! 😑

"Fortunaltely", paint doesn't seem to be cracked. A professional dent remover should fix this easily, I guess. But still time and money consuming...

Anyway, as I had in mind to have the tail gate repainted, to get rid of 2 scratches awfully smeared with a touch up pen by the previous owner, I'll do it a bit sooner than expected...

Work is booked for early November. I'll also have a bodywork treatment done at the same time.

i got the car broken into while in London... glass fixed now but there are lots of chips on the doors. We will see what there is to do about that.

And I know now that it likes cruising at 160 /100mph. And it doesn't really do a number on the consumption, either.

But the wipers are crap at 160. And I can't set cruise higher than that, grrr. Today's high score / trip high score (too much rain otherwise!) was 193. Not bad for a 150PS 4x4 brick.

I've been a bit bored lately... Thus, today I've made a small improvement 😁 :

IMG-0787.jpg

It seems Kodiaq FL has both pedals (DSG7) covered with brushed aluminum in L&K trim version.

I thought the aluminum footrest was missing... I wasn't a big fan in the beginning though... If I hadn't had the two pedals already with an aluminum trim, I wouldn't have added the footrest. I didn't have anything on my ex-Superb Estate MK3 (also a L&K one), and I didn't miss it.

Well, sometimes it can depend on very few things... 😁

Latest update: Installation of dual dash cams (front & rear).

As on my ex Superb Mk3 Estate, I wanted something OEM-like. I searched on Ali, as for my Superb, but nothing.

So I had to chose a FitcamX set, with a slightly higher price, BTW.

I thought it would take me 2-3 hours, given my experience with my ex-Superb Mk3. But it didn't go as planned. I spent twice as much time... 😳

Initially, I used the same routing as on my Superb Mk3 Estate : from the center rearview mirror where the front camera is located, I ran my video cable along the A-pillar on the left side, down to the door sills, along the entire left side under the door sills, then back up above the rear-left wheel arch. And this is where I decided to check if I could reach the rear washer jet area correctly with the remaining length of video cable. But obviously, no 😤 ! I would have missed something like 30-40cm... 🤦‍♂️

Situation analysis...Going along the roof, would saves me from going down and then back up... So I have to undo everything to start again from the upper left corner of the windshield. 🙄😤

But this is not ideal, since this routing is along the curtain airbag. Thus I've used aluminium tape to fix my video cable the car body to prevent the cable from messing up the curtain airbag deployment if it were triggered...

Okay, anyway, it's installed. That's the main thing, 😃! It may sound silly, but I have to say I had got used to these dual dash cams on my ex-Superb Mk3, and considering the number of so-called 'F1 pilots' and incredible behaviors I've seen since I've sold my Superb Mk3, I'm glad to have dual dash cams again. I find it calms things down a bit... With my ex Superb, I actually just showed my front cam in the rearview mirror to 1 or 2 guys who were driving crazy, and I saw a kind of doubt in their eyes. As if to say, "Errr, damn..." and they calmed down a bit... But, it probably didn't last long... 🙄

Anyway, glad to have these devices again. 😊

Switched to winter tyres today. Also 235/50/19, as I had kept the original rims.

4 Michelin Alpin 7 on.

I have new plans within month: Front & rear brake pads replacement! I've ordered ATE Ceramics to reduce the amount of dark brake dust on the rims.

I'll take the opportunity to restore brake disc hub and brake calipers, with Foliatec kits.

But this painting operation requires a 24h paint drying. I thus plan to remove all 4 wheels and put my Kodiaq on 4 jack stands. But I'm not sure where I can put them, since the lifting point will already be used by the jacks.

Any idea?

I won't be able to lift it up with my jack and put a jack stand at the same location at the same time... 🤔

I could try lifting with the front lifting point high enough to install a jack stand at the rear lifting point but I fear I might be stuck sooner or later because I'd like to install 4 jack stands to treat all corners on the same day... This is why I'd like to find another location to install the jack stands. 😉

Had tail gate painted to get rid of 2 scratches awfully hidden with touch up pen.

Also had dent removed on passenger door.

Now my "blue bear" looks even nicer! 😍

Hi,

I've changed front and rear brake pads today. I'll take the opportunity to write 2 "how to guides". ;)

Everything went OK, except my battery is probably getting weak because of Stop & Start...

I ran a VCDS scan to clear all fault codes generated by the EPB in maintenance mode and the battery voltage protection shut everything. I then started the engine with a battery booster, cleared all codes, shut the engine and ran a 2nd scan to see potential remaining ones. And battery protection triggered again. No way to start again with the battery booster (stopped after 3 attempts).

I'll charge the battery booster overnight and charge car battery tomorrow.

I think it's time for a new battery though it's only 3 years and 9 months old...

Can anyone confirm me it's an EFBon a Kodiaq MY22, TDI200 (P/N is 5TA 915 105B - 70Ah / 420A / 700A), please?...

I've found the P/N on ifinterface.com and it states it's an EFB. P/N for remplacement battery is 000 919 105 FC.

I' think I'll take a 70A 760A so that it last a bit longer...

2 possible options are Bosch S4 E08 and Varta N70 with these figures.

Or Should I go 72Ah - 760A?

Then 2 other options are Bosch S4 E41 or Varta N72.

TIA

ATE Ceramic front brake pads:

Same on the rear axle:

And put back a Skoda logo on the tail gate 😃 instead of the 'S K O D A' lettering, which I didn't like that much, especially for cleaning sessions...

Hi,

I had a ceramic coating applied to my Blue Bear. It looks great. Well... it didn't stay so for a long time with such a weather. But at least it's protected and I'll be able to wash it more easily. :AP-Smiles_u1F642:

Just before dropping it off by my dealer, I took a picture of one of the front wheels to show how little dirt there was after 1800km since switching to ATE Ceramic brake pads. It looks pretty clean to me.

But no luck, the website I usually use to upload my pics is bugging :||...

So you'll have to be patient... 🤷‍♂️
