What have you done to your Kodiaq today?

Excellent. We have both! I have superb tdi 190 and the wife has 1.5tsi kodiaq. Kodiaq is SE model so basic spec and engine is a bit underpowered but it’s perfectly Comfortable for family road trips. We are headed to south west France in it in a fortnight.

We've optimized our Kodiaq with the 1.5 TSI engine. Approximately 35 Nm more torque and approximately 30 hp more power. That's now "acceptable".

  • Have driven 460 000 km without major problems.

  • Impossible! You couldn’t possibly have done 460,000km today! Some rough maths say that would take over 600 tanks of fuel (at a generous 750km/tank)… at 5 minutes to fill and pay for each, that’s over

Was that a remap?

Hi,

full refueled this evening and 17th fill-up in a row under 7.0l/100km. Not that bad for a big 1840kg bear with 200HP. 🙂

Not what I have done, but more what someone else has done to it.

Some bad parking in a car park by someone resulted in some paint transfer to the rear drivers side door.

Some hand polish has been ordered to try and correct it. I don’t think it’s gone right through but I have ordered some touch up paint too just in case.

A pleasant surprise that the person actually left contact details and we agreed upon a cash transfer to cover the cost of polish and paint.

My blue bear's battery is dead. I had to use a battery booster to restart.

OEM battery is 4.5 years old, it's a Bosch EFB+ 70Ah 420A DIN / 700A SAE for my TDI200.

Does anyone have recommendation for a nwe battery?

Different spare parts websites propose the following list:

  • Varta N70 (70AH 760A SAE)

  • Bosch S4 E08 (70Ah 760A SAE)

  • Fulmen FL700 (7Ah 720A SAE)

  • Exide EL 700 (70Ah 760A SAE)

  • Yuasa YBX7000 (75Ah 700A SAE)

Other batteries don't fit in size (either too long or too high). I'd like to take the opportunity to increase the capacity (Ah value), but I have absolutely no idea if Yuasa is a reliable brand or not. If it's not, I would either go for Varta or Bosch.

Thanks for your feedbacks or sharing your experience.

My Favorites:

Varta

Exide

I just bought a Duracell branded one as it comes with 4 year warranty. It’s a banner manufactured one relabelled. Might be a UK only brand perhaps. I went for highest Ah with longest warranty.

The only proposed Duracell for mine is unfortunately too high and too short...

New battery ordered. I've finally bought Varta N70 (70AH 760A SAE).

Hi,

New battery installed and recoded.

Battery S/N is really bullsh*t. OEM coding was JCB (for a Varta one) and S/N did not match the BEM code stiker on the OEM battery, simply 11111111111.

I then simply set VAO for my Varta and then 11111111112.
Done.

Yes it’s strange. I think it just needs to see a different number in the serial number field so it knows it’s a different battery. Interesting yours was set to all 1s as that’s what mine was when I changed it and it definitely wasn’t OEM battery. Perhaps it had never been coded properly at the last change 🤔

I also replaced the original battery on my ex Superb Estate Mk3. Same coding with 11111111111... 🙄
