Coolant Leak

Featured Replies

Hello (again!)

The Alert light came up on the dash today for Coolant low.

I can see it dripping from very near the front of the the underside of the car when the engine is hot and just been turned off… about at the rate of (counting in seconds) 1, 2, 3 drip. It slows down when the car is left standing, which i'd expect - due to pressure and temperature i believe? This sort of thing (i'm pretty certain) is beyond my ability to resolve, so i'm headed to a garage tomorrow morning.

Before i do that i was planning to fill up the coolant as i realise if it runs dry there can be serious repercussions… seizing the engine? + who knows what …

I haven't had the chance to look for where the leak is coming from yet. To be honest I'm not sure where to look!

Anyone who can offer any advice would be much appreciated.

many thanks

It will help others when they know it is a 1.4 TSI DSG. I looked at your profile to see that.

All out of tea leafs to read and help guess what is wrong.

?

When was it checked and you know it was at the correct level.

Keep it topped up until you get where you are taking it.

Radiator, or a hose / clamp, maybe not the water pump, hopefully a cheap fix.
