Brake pad wear sensor triggered after 24k km / 15k miles

Featured Replies

'21 Mk IV RS. Estate, if that matters.

Brake pad wear sensor was triggered a few days ago.

Car's done 15k miles / 24k km. Car is driven very gently by an old man (me) 99.9% of the time. And the other 0.1% is at its highest 'spirited', not aggressive.

Is this real life? In what universe do pads need replacing after just 15k miles????

Simple really, Inspect them and then you will know.

Take a pic of them and post it on here.

I too drive like an old duffer, mainly because I AM an old duffer.

My brakes are the ones that came with the car and have done over 25K miles. Here's what they looked like just now.

Which transmission? Some automatics wear pads faster.

Lots of heavy traffic and steep hills... 🤣

I'd suspect a faulty sensor.

By contrast, at the last inspection the dealer reported that my pads in my car were approx 50% worn; it had done about 55k miles at that time.

I had my car In for service and was told my disc pads were down 90% a d discs were badly worn.got told price would be 546 pounds .I refused and I got a 2 new front discs and brake pads .when tbe lad came to do the job he showed me tbe d disk pads and said tbere was more than 30 % left on them and my discs were fine no damage at all.25000 miles on clock.so ot looks like my local skoda garage was trying to rip me off.

Yeah I don't trust Skoda dealers. they tried to charge me something stupid to replace my rear wiper because it was making some noise. I've never noticed it making noise and even if it did I wouldn't care unless it wasn't doing its job.

The last time I took my previous car to a dealer was when it was not quite 3 years old, they told me I needed new front discs and pads, after servicing and MOTs at a trusted independent VAG specialist 7 years and 50,000 miles later I sold it still with the original front discs and pads!

Yes I think they were trying it on but did not get very far .

I suspect it's a sensor issue.

My DS2500s are due to be replace soon, but they aren't OE pads and have seen some very heavy use over the last 10,000 miles.
