2019 Kodiaq tdi noise under load - help

Featured Replies

Hi all

First time poster just taken delivery of first Skoda - a 2019 2l tdi dsg 4x4 64k miles

All seems ok, service history looks decent, last oil change Feb 25 and Haldex was done 2 years and 30k miles ago - only thing missing I would have liked to see is DSG service but that's on my list to do if I keep it.

Basically I apparently have 15 days to reject the car or keep it and the only thing concerning me just now is a metallic sort of rattling noise when under load.

It happens from around 2.5krpm up until 3.5krpm, doesn't do it when in neutral only when under load.

I can't really hear anything else with window down, more when windows up. DSG box seems happy enough going up and down through gears in manual mode and car seems to pull well.

I'm going to try get it booked into a garage but conscious I might not have time with work etc so keen to know if this sounds like an obvious issue?

Get them to check the propshaft couplings front and rear - it may not be those but they have a tendency to start to fail around 70k miles and exhibit a vibration at exactly the sort of revs you're talking about - most noticable under load and in a high gear
