Unscheduled forum downtime

Featured Replies

Apologies to all that tried to access the forums the last hour or so. I had to reboot the server for an unrelated issue and had failed to spot that the webserver failed to start.

We may need to make additional changes later, but downtime will be limited to the absolute minimum.

Q.

At least it's back :) Looked for you on MSN when it was down but you obviously already knew there was a problem...

PS - how could you reboot the server _without_ affecting the forums, anyway? Perhaps an announcement before the fact next time?

A reboot will normally take only less than a minute or so, and the worst that happens is that you hit submit and the server is gone...

It was an unscheduled reboot in the sense that I didn't anticipate it whilst trying to resolve another problem. As a last desperate attempt I do what every good windows user does... reboot ;)

I missed that. Haven't logged on for several hours though - must be slipping... :rubchin:

I'm always reminded of that scene from The Fisher King movie at times like this when everyone in NY's Central Station goes into a Strauss waltz. Maybe it's just me.

Best regards for whatever it is your doing, Quinten, otherwise, 1-2-3, 1-2-3

Surely what every good Windows user does is re-install?!

Think we cracked the nut, so this thread can go to the archives...
