Eibach rear arb

Featured Replies

So, continuing my refresh of the 2017 superb sportline 190tdi 4x4, after getting the bilstein shocks I am cinsidering fitting a firmer rear sway bar.

But as always, I need to check in with community to see if i am going to get the right thing or mess up…

The easiest rear arb I can source is the eibach one for the golf 7r/audi s3 (part number E40-15-021-02-01 ), so the question is will it fit?

I know that golf 7r rear arb should fit, but i couldn’t find information about the eibach branded one,I know about h&r one and the whiteline, but I cant get those here.

Does fitment depend on the brand or should every golf 7r rear arb fit the awd superb just fine?

Shouldn’t be any variation depending on brand for fitting but there are differences in diameter. I think the original is 19mm. So you have options for 22mm, 24mm, and 25.4mm. I have whiteline which I think is 24mm. It has 2 holes for adjustable stiffness, mines on the stiffest of the two.

There’s hardrace and superpro to consider in case they have better reach to wherever you are.

Basically, don’t consider, just do. I’ve never read anyone say that it wasn’t worth it, only the complete opposite.

FWIW, I've read that the SuperPro version is basically the same as the Whiteline, except people tend to be happier with the coating/finish on the former. I also read that Whiteline are now being a bit cheap with the manufacturing of their stuff, whereas SuperPro are still made Down Under.

Nothing wrong with the Whiteline, but if they're the same price you may as well go for the SuperPro - I know they're relatively easy to get ahold of throughout Europe.

It entirely depends on what you want. I intend to do something at aome point to my 272/280.

From research a Golf R rear ARB is a smidge bigger diameter (19mm on ours I THINK) VS 21.7mm on the Golf R and is a pretty cheap option. But, the effort to fit and then replace is alot of hassle (I replaced my Octavia VRS rear ARB and I know that was a faff, especially as that didnt have a rear diff)

The jump isnt massive. I'd suggest a 24mm you'll be able to tell the difference. As mentioned, I went from 17mm to 19mm on my VRS and the difference was varely noticeable.

I've got the Hardrace Pro rear sway bar (7758) on my FWD Superb.

It's 28 mm thick. Made a very noticeable improvement

They make an AWD version too, which is 30 mm thick - 8781.

It is the same for Superb, Kodiaq, Golf R and Passat 4Motion.

30mm is massive! Any issues with tramlining or comfort?

No issues whatsoever with comfort, alignment or tyre wear.

My current tyres, Continental MaxContact6 have done 50k+ kms, and r only now due for replacement soon.

Those part numbers are coming up as front fitment not rear, which may explain the unexpectedly large sizing.

Oh my......I'm so sorry.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Yes, I incorrectly referenced the front sway bar part numbers!!! Doh!

Should've been:-

  • AWD rear sway bar (25.4 mm) is 8778.

  • FWD rear sway bar (25.4 mm) is 7759
