Hi guys,

This is my first post here but I've used the site before for ideas but I can't seem to lock this down.

I got my 2019 Skoda scala LE 1.5 automatic from a Skoda dealer near my parents (70 miles away) in October 2024.

I've had bad luck with it in the 8 months since, someone hit it day 1 and then it was clipped while parked a few days later and then a stone meant I had to replace the full windscreen.

Recently it went it with gear failure and I was charged about £1500 for a clutch replacement as it was 'wear and tear' so no warranty.

The day I picked it up I took it back immediately for a rattle on startup which they immediately saw was the turbo waste gate (I think) and said this was nothing to worry about!

Since then I've been paranoid about noises, when my car goes into eco mode I hear what I can only describe as a chuffing noise from the engine, this goes when not in eco/2 cylinder

I also noticed my passenger side suspension seems to creak a lot at slow speeds, it had it's service in April and it said everything was fine.

I also have what sounds like a slight rattle at higher speeds from somewhere in the engine bay but can only hear it when moving and it seems to quieten down with a passenger.

The gear changes in low gear still feels a bit unusual! Not clunky really just around 3rd gear it seems to feel a bit different

I'm just after some advice! Should I contact the local Skoda dealer (who replaced the clutch) or go to the one I bought from or is it nothing to worry about. It's hard to show people as the car has to be quiet with just one person in it (from what I can tell)

This is my first automatic car and I really don't have the money for massive repairs just yet but if I need to, Id rather get it checked now if I'm not being paranoid

How many miles has the car done?

Does it have full service history? If so, did they change the spark plugs and air filter at the recommended interval?

Was the gearbox serviced at 40k miles?

The DQ200 doesn't have an official service schedule, but many owners follow the advice given for other DSG gearboxes and have the oil changed every 40k rather than wait for the inevitable catastrophic failure due to lack of maintenance.

If all the above has been done on time, I wouldn't worry too much about quiet squeaks and rattles. Anything mechanical makes noise and there's nothing that can stop that. More premium brands use more sound deadening which helps stop the occupants hearing such noises but they are still there.

My 1.5 Scala DSG is the same as yours but it's only covered 6k so far, so I'm interested to hear your response to the above.

Also, with these DSG gearboxes it's good practice to shift to neutral when spending considerable time stopped (e.g. traffic lights, level crossings, in traffic, etc.) to minimise clutch wear.

Cheers

Hi thank you for the reply!!

It's done about 57k miles (about 4 with me)

It did come with full service schedule, but I don't think they've ever had a gearbox service but I think I might get one soon to be safe, I did ask about it before and they said the same that it's a sealed unit so doesn't have a full schedule but recommended about 60k

Think the issues I had just made me a bit paranoid so that reassuring helps

Thanks again

Changing both oils in a DQ200 DSG @ 40,000 miles is going to make no difference to one having needed new Clutch packs.

7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.

Replacing spark plugs at 40,000 miles is to schedule and just Simply Clever.

Did it at least get the Air Filter changed @ 6 years, or sooner?

Some do not even get looked at for 6 years / 60,000 miles with a Full Main Dealer Service History

Has it had the brake fluid changed once or even twice as per Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Advice or Schedule?

So you think Its probably just normal noise? Like I say my service was absolutely fine and they said they didn't see any other issues after the clutch pack replacement!

No i think an automatic gearbox specialist should be asked to test drive it.

Not a Skoda Main Dealer Technician or Fitter.

The new clutch pack required surprises me. It is normally a MCU issue. With your age of a DQ200 DSG.

Has it had Spark Plugs Replaced & the Air Filter replaced or at least looked at?

'Turbo Wastegate nothing to worry about. '

Not for them with your car, if it was their car or in their family they would be totally different.

I'll get on that thank you!

Yeah it surprised me too but they were insistent it was the issue! Happened twice where the car got stuck in a gear and needed a restart

Was it a Skoda Approved Used car? With a Warranty.

Clutches are a Wear & Tear item, but with New Skoda Warranties they are not excluded.

I personally think they took the p!th if they went with Clutch Packs and no Warranty Cover.

If the car needs a Turbo Waste Gate, or a complete turbo just gen up on the Used Car Warranty..........

...............................

For any one with a Manufacturers Warranty, Extended 4 or 5 years even see that DSG Clutch Plates are covered.

Yeah it was an approved used warranty and I asked about the warranty but they said that the wear and tear wasn't covered 😭 all done now so I'm not going to argue that but for future reference I'm going to clue up on the documentation

Tbf that document says wear and tear is not covered if I'm reading it correctly, I imagine brand new ones would be covered but it's approved used 69 plate
