Hello fellow Skoda and Scala owners.

I'm looking for some advice regarding the activation of certain features using OBD adapters (OBDeleven, Carista, Carly, etc.).

Would any of the following features be incompatible with my late 2023 (pre-facelift) Scala 1.5 tsi DSG SE?

  1. Static cornering lights when cornering/manoeuvring

  2. Alarm acoustic feedback when locking/unlocking

  3. Auto-high beam (my car has lane assist with the windscreen camera and basic auto headlights, from the description it should be compatible, but there are multiple camera versions)

  4. Front fog lights activate with main beam flash (flash to pass function)

  5. Speed limit signage detection, with the limit shown in the maxidot display (again if there is a windscreen camera for lane assist it should be compatible but may depend on the camera installed)

I guess the only way to get a certain answer is to try and code these in and see what happens.

With a new car there is always the risk of causing issues if the components aren't compatible with the settings. Before I brick the car, would anyone be kind enough to offer some advice on the above features and let me know if you have coded any of these features in before and whether it was successful.

Planning to use the automated apps rather than long coding.

Thanks

There is a specific coding sub forum.

From what I have read unless you have VCDS available to you then OBDeleven is the best tool.

But if you want to make big changes then long coding is likely to be needed.

I think only VCDS or VAG scanner is compatible to make coding.I have same problem, but my version in 17.08..in this case no more functions are avaible for me...I'm interseting to clarify this subject..what interface do you have?..it's clear you need version after year `23

Wouldn't a 2023 VW product have the additional lockouts to prevent some stuff, would it include stuff like this (I don't know).

Have you had these systems before and know what they're like as some of them are very hit and miss and you could have a chapter, in not book, on reasons why they won't work reliably (like the lane "assist" and front collision prevention).add that in when considering risk. I'm not sure if the systems you mention are too low rent to reliably work on one click, perhaps they're not and are fine.

I saw a video where I chap switched on some features with a more expensive scan tool than those you mention, the only one I remember is the horn sounding for door locking and he was worried it might disturb the neighbours late at night but no need to worry as the noise was very weak, hear the door locks and indictors about the same, on the video.

See at about 4 mins for "acoustic conformation" -

Here's something about coding https://forum.skodahome.cz/topic/146900-scala-k%C3%B3dov%C3%A1n%C3%AD/

@alep if you are still interested?

I forgot I saw the following video about Carley. -

Thanks to everyone for the above info.

@richi661 that thread made for an interesting read and there were some important points I didn't know about.

It seems the security for this adaptations was increased making this stuff more difficult. @nta16 also mentioned this.

Traffic sign recognition doesn't appear to be possible without inbuilt navigation. Hope I am wrong. Maybe this will change in the future.

Other things in my initial post may still be possible as others have done it on 2022 cars.

The latest facelift Scala (2025 on) has all but lost the ability to do adaptations outside the dealer network. Fortunately for me this isn't a problem.

I'm going to read through some other forums to see if they can offer more info for now.

Will update this thread if I have any success.

Traffic sign recognition is another hit and miss thing, especially given the state of roadside management over the last decade or so. Big traffic signs have disappeared into the overgrowth of our 3-world nation (at least the 2008 bankers are comfortable, probably retired abroad) speed sins can be hidden or partial hidden too. My neighbour's 2023 car was flashing warning as I accelerator after a village boundary as it couldn't see/make out the NSL sign that I could as a human. You may well have seen these but for others.

ETA: bakers :D

It is true that in 2020 VW started to make adaption (turning on software features that are supported, i.e. hardware already in place).

There is a constant battle between the aftermarket coding community and the manufacturers. For sure cheap coding tools have very limited effect now and for a lot of things only those who know how to do do the long coding can make progress.
