Skoda Octavia scout keys locked inside!

Featured Replies

Hi there, new and looking for any experiences.

My Skoda Octavia scout (2011) has managed to lock itself with the keys in the ignition….

I’ve no idea if this is normal or a fault but the auto locking on this car has always been rather overzealous. I was cleaning out car and had unlocked using fob and for some reason the car likes to ‘lock’ itself regardless of what door is open at that time and if door is open the alarm will then set off.

Car was parked in my drive and I was getting ready to hoover, it kept trying to lock with the drivers door open so put the key in the ignition ( didn’t turn it) and stupidly closed the door so I could get past it. In less than 10 seconds the door had locked itself and I was officially locked OUT!!

AA want 75 quid to perhaps break the car and might have to deploy airbags ?? And can’t do until Wednesday.

Anyone know if a Skoda dealership would be able to sort this at all?

Many thanks 🙏

P.s car brought second hand and no spare key!!!!!!

Happened to my mum. AA came and used an air wedge to open top of door slightly to get a rod to unlock the car from inside by hitting button. You could also try and see if you can hit the window down button as well as the keys are in the ignition so windows should work. Door top needed a slight pull to get it to seal properly again. Not sure if its possible to force window down enough to gain access to buttons on door.

Without the ignition ON, the window raise/lower buttons and central lock button are disabled after about 10 minutes.

Note that if, in normal use, if the door open light on the display is not working, it indicates a faulty microswitch in the door lock or a broken wire in the snake across the door hinge. In this circumstance, the door will relock after about a minute.

Over 200 miles from home my wife dropped her key on a rear seat as she was closing a rear door.

She had removed the key and it was in her hand. After the ten minutes or so doing other things the car was ready to activate all locks as soon as the rear door was closed. As she closed the door (and dropping the remote) the car now locked with the remote on the rear seat.

A nearby garage (for free) brought along their kit to lever back the top of the rear door and insert a long rod. Using the rod, the man turned the key over and then pressed the open button. Voila! and lucky!
