Octavia Scout randomly locking itself

Featured Replies

Hi guys...

so a a new issue has reared it’s ugly head...

While at work I leave the keys to my car IN THE CAR, drive to work, park up, switch engine off then either throw keys on the drivers floor or leave in ignition as I’m in and out of it all day... so last week it randomly locked itself. I thought nothing of it and got my spare to open it again.

Camping last week as I was stood at the side of it the alarm chirped then flashed its hazards and locked itself with keys inside. This only happens (or I think it does) when I’m in and out of the boot and possibly once when using rear doors. I can’t find any problems, the alarm battery is fine and was replaced a few months ago. It does this with both keys so it’s not a fob problem. Is there a setting on diagnostics that I could of upset? I use my snap on solus pro to change settings so as ‘cornering lights’ (fog lights) work etc etc. Also if I hit over 80 something mph the headlights used to auto come on but that’s stopped as well (not a problem as such I’m just curious)

I have also checked for water in the loom but not sure where else to check. Fault codes indicated a problem with LED in door card BUT I have replaced door card months ago so this could be a fault code from then.

Many thanks people... I will scan again for fault codes but I’m sure nothing will show.

Update...

Drove home, turned off engine and jumped out with my keys in my hand and suddenly the car chirps once with a flash of indicators and locked itself, it then does it another 6 times and every time you hear the locks trying to lock even though they are still locked, as tho it’s me pressing the fob button numerous times with a couple of seconds between presses.

I did get a fault code but it was on about the door LED indicator but that is very clearly working. I will re scan and see if we have any new codes...

I have noticed that the rubber gator for the boot is split (knackered) from a previous wiring repair, I’ve checked in the boot area but can’t see anything that water could be dripping onto. Am I looking in the right place? Are they known for problems with boot wiring and water??

This is a very well known issue for all VAG cars. There are plastic micro-switches in all door locks that fail miserably.

Thank you, i will look into this. Dreading removing the mechanism 😳😳

This week my car has done something similar in that occasionally it will self lock soon after I get in whether I have put the key in the ignition or not.

The first clue is that the door open light is not showing on the dash when the door was initially opened on occasions before it self locks.

The second clue is that it only does it if the driver's door has been in the sun on a hot day.

Ran diagnostics check and it came up with:

Driver's door
Part #: 1T0959701AA
Coding: 758 (decimal)
Component: Tuer-SG
Fault codes:
00928 Locking Module for Central Locking: Front Driver Side (F220)

New lock module to be fitted next week.
