So after owning my 2024 Superb for a few months, imagine my horror when the low coolant warning came on and I needed to top the cooling up with over 500ml of water, even more worrying when I'd gone through a similar issue my 2017 Superb that ended up being the EGR cooler, so after another 350miles and the level had gone down slightly, rang my local Skoda today to book it in to be checked, they couldn't see it for a few weeks but advised me to call Skoda Assist and get the AA to check it out, and then they'd have to arrange to have it in within 48 hours, so did just that, AA came out within the hour, pressure tested the system which seemed to be holding but found the leak, a very slight weep on the heater exchange connection on the bulkhead, looks like it been weeping for months, if not since manufacturing and just topped up by the previous owner.

Should get a phone call tomorrow for them to book it in and give me a courtesy car,

Impressed with Skoda Assist and the AA.

Hi , really sorry you are having issues with your car. I understand that the engines have quite a complex coolent filling procedure that require vacuum assistance during filling !

Yeah that’s nuts but there is a chance that something misses QC. As long as you get it sorted at no cost that’s the main thing 👍🏼

The AA man believe they probably damaged the O-ring when they were building the car and it's most likely always been like it.

What's nuts ?

If your Skoda dealer is anything like ours then you'll be in that hire car for a few weeks - I found there seems to be a disconnect between the AA, Skoda Assist and most importantly, the dealer - who in my case was most put out that they had to take the car in.

Much mutterings about the word of a AA patrol v their own workshop diagnostic.........

Not experienced the AA but the RAC left me on the side of the M4 for hours and would only take our party to the local service area.We had the full service !!

Luckily our son picked us up.

I've had this already, had to chase my dealer up, even though Skoda Assist told me the dealer should ring by midday, they have no courtesy cars available so got to have an Enterprise hire car, which I'm not particularly impressed with, especially as it means being picked up at my dealers by an Enterprise driver, and driven back to their office to sign the paperwork, and then the point your referring to, they have 48 hours to diagnose the problem, I questioned this as I was told if I called Skoda Assist, the AA would diagnose the problem and recommend if it needed to go to Skoda, the other option was to wait till the middle of July for their first free diagnostic appointment!! They said they can't go by the AA diagnosis and needed to do their own, only bonus is it's now 48hours and not 4 weeks!! And although they have the AA diagnosis, which it obviously is, they can't give me a time as to when the car will be repaired, I fear this is going to get tricky!!

Yep, sounds almost exactly as I experienced - only difference is I turned down the hire car seeing as Škoda Assist and the AA patrol indicated it would be simple battery swap out - but as I mentioned, dealer wanted to do their own diagnostics and only when they were ready - took 10 days to resolve!

I’m disappointed and saddened as to how far so called ‘customer service’ has fallen. Good luck.

Nuts that something has left the factory and then been ignored ever since. Is it more usual than I’d think? I’ve got no experience of factory QC so happy to be corrected if this sort of thing goes on often.

Update, car went in today, they looked at the photos I'd taken of what the AA had found, said they'd never seen that fault on such a new Skoda before.

Got picked up by Enterprise and have a nice Audi S3 24 plate DSG sat on the drive now.

Thought they take advantage of the 48 hours they had to get their diagnostics done, but by 1:30 got a phone call from Skoda to say they'd done their tests and they couldn't find anything more than the AA had diagnosed, their only problem was because of how the pipes were situated it was hard to tell if it was just the bottom union leaking, or the top union leaking on top of the bottom union without stripping both out, so with that in mind they're replacing both unions which include the pipes fitted to them too!!

Also because it's gone through Skoda Assist they have to have the car repaired with 24hours of getting the parts, obviously we have to take as gospel when the parts come in stock.

Must say that for me Skoda Assist have been great, so far!!

Can’t speak about VWAG builds, but when I visited Ford HQ twenty-odd years ago to talk about warranty claims for loss of use, they said it is these types of human errors which are the bane of the industry when it comes to identifying and rectifying.

…which, I hope they didn’t say, are on back order from the factory and if so, that could be days.

Waiting for them to ring me about when they expect the parts!!

Tbh I’d ring them and say “take your time” considering you’ve been given an S3 😂
