Car revving for no reason

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

When moving slowly in traffic, sometimes my Fabia suddenly revs extremely high even though my foot is completely off the accelerator.

I mean crazy high revving, as if my foot was pressed to the floor. The only way to interrupt it is to restart the engine.

Anyone heard of this?

My suspicion is stop/start malfunction, as it happens in very slow moving traffic when the stop/start is being used heavily.

Thanks

Gil

Can you just inhibit the Stop/Start for a few days or so, requires pressing the inhibit button each time you switch on the ignition but no big deal.

Yeah, that's what I have been doing. Since doing so, I haven't noticed the problem.

However, I bought the car 3 months ago. In my view, this is quite a major fault, so I'm taking it back to them to hopefully find a resolution.
