1.8t engine idle, dose it sound right?

Featured Replies

I recently replaced the water pump in my 1.8t engine. After a lot of turning the engine by hand and not feeling or hearing anything out of the usual I started it up and heard this fast pace ticking noise. I am awere that ther is a ticking sound thats normal but I can hear another sound aswell. The sound may very well be normal and im just extra awere of things out of place becaus I dont want to hear an orchestra of expensive noices.

I would appreciate if anyone could share a video of thier 1.8t idleing as a comparison or even tell me outright if the sound is normal.

Have you still got the black charcoal canister in the left hand side near the headlight. That ticks away like a good’en and is often mistaken for worse noise. Our engines are quite tappity anyway.

I am aware of that, I was just a bit on edge. Thanks anyway
