Audio quality/problem Skoda Octavia 3 (1.0) 2018

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with the infotainment system in my Skoda Octavia 3 (2018), and I'm hoping someone here can help or has encountered something similar.

The problem concerns the audio quality, and here’s what I’ve observed:

1. When listening to the radio, I get decent, full audio from the left speakers, but on the right side, the sound is extremely tinny, with no bass at all, and it's barely audible.

2. When connecting a smartphone via USB-C:

With my own phone, I get the same issue as with the radio: good sound on the left, poor/tinny on the right.

When my girlfriend connects her phone, almost all sound disappears from the left, and only the same poor-quality audio comes from the right speakers.

We’ve:

Updated the infotainment system to the latest version.

Tried several different USB-C cables.

Checked and adjusted the equalizer settings, but nothing changes the audio output.

Has anyone had a similar issue or knows what might be causing this? Could it be a wiring problem, speaker failure, or something software-related?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Jeroen

Do you have Canton (if you do the front door speakers will say Canton on them)?

Hi,

No presence of such name on the speakers, I am pretty sure they are the standard speakers.

Kind regards

Which system do you have?

How or where do I check this?

Ah I did an update and It was Amundsen I recall

MST2 EU SK ZR PO480T

This was the update file and I remember it was amundsun

Even the basic audio has speakers in the front and the rear so try using the output options to direct the output entirely to the rear.

If the issue is still present then it may be the amplifier output playing up.

If the issue is addressed then probably front right wiring or speaker.

If you enable up Skoda Surround; audio quality is a lot better on Bolaro, Amunsden (non-Canton) and Columbus (non-Canton).

I set the audio to rear only, which seem to be in balance on both sides. Audio quality is low however. Might need to check the wiring then. Any idea where I need to look or check?

On a non-Canton system all the speakers are wired directly to the rear of the unit in the glovebox.
