Skoda Octavia IV Battery

Featured Replies

My car's battery has a range of 50 km. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace it with a battery with a greater range of 120 km?

I doubt it very much now if you could get a battery from salvage. Maybe in the future it will be possible or viable. Just guessing though.

To double the range of the battery you would need to double its capacity in kw/hrs and that would require a much larger battery which would not fit into the current space. You would need a battery with double the energy density, which if it was available at all, would probably be very expensive.

The 50km range is a bt frustrating and I would like double the range too. Apparently Skoda are planning to have longer range hybrids in the next generation cars.

They already have for a while, just not Octavias. Though Octavia with next gen PHEV system comes, too, no mention still of the launch date.

Its probably cheaper to sell the car and buy one with the battery you want.

You are aware that a standard battery renewal costs about 12,000 euros, right ? Sadly it's quite impossible to find OEM battery for VW cars. I wouldn't recommend it as they are most probably hard coded to work with original parts and usage of OEM may void warranty etc. Also installation isn't a walk in the park. As avi4tor said, it's simpler to replace the car instead.
