SFD 2 or SFD 1?

There are many VAG (Volkswagen/Skoda/Audi/Seat) compatible OBD2 devices available on AliExpress for less than €50. Most of them use the same chipset, with a USB-A OBD2 port cable to connect to a PC.

That's what most repair shops use these days. They also supply the application with the kit.

But be careful how you use it, as most of them not only read, they are capable of writing as well. So, I advise you to know what you are doing.

When buying a odb2 scanner, you should look specifically for VAG compatibility.

Sorry what's sfd 1 and 2

Just buy an OBD ELEVEN which works best of anything as it is SFD compatible. All the cheap scanners wont have access to modules that are protected by SFD and so to put it mildly are as useful as an umbrella in a tsunami

They are security measures introduced by VW Gorup in accordance with UNECE regulations.

SFD1 locks changes on some electronic modules until an online verified code is received from the VW servers.

SFD2 goes further in that changes can only be made when actually online to the VW servers.
