Noisy cooling fan

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have a 2018 Skoda Fabia Se Mpi 75

After a recent filter and oil change, i have noticed that my radiator/cooling fan is excessively noisy and comes on quite frequently. I have only had the car for one year. But i cant remember it being this noisy in the beginning.

My garage said its normal.

But im not so sure. Has anyone else encountered this on their vehicle.

It literally sounds like a plane getting ready for take off when im driving or sitting idle in traffic and has started to grab the attention of passers by with how noisy it is.

Can you see how many wires go into the central (motor) part of the fan? 2, 3, more?

If it's three, that would suggest it's the relatively simple two-speed fan design whose low speed may have failed, leaving just the full speed option.

May need a phone camera operated 'blind' to investigate wiring, and definitely best attempted when engine is off and cold.
