Are Octavia identical as A4 and Passat?

Featured Replies

Some colleagues say that my car Octavia 2009 facelift, is an identical chassis to the A4 and Passat? If they are identical, then why is my fuel tank smaller than the A4 and Passat, which have a 65/70-litre tank? my is 55!

@43576 What engines are you talking about the model from Skoda & from the sister brands having.

Is it 2 litre TSI /TFSI or TDI,s and FWD only or ones that might be AWD?

My colleague was referring to his VW Passat 2.0TDI 140BHP CR 2010, front wheel driver, my car has the same engine but is PD.

Same engines, but not the same chassis. The mk2 octy is built on a modified version of the mk4 golf chassis. Pretty sure the 2010 Passat (B6?) is the first generation be on the MQB chassis, along with mk5/6 golf etc, that Skoda got to use for the mk3 octy.

The Mk2 octavia is a Mk5 golf underneath, not a Mk4

Mk4 golf - PQ34

Mk1 octy - PQ34

Mk5 golf - PQ35

Mk2 Octy - PQ35

Evolution, not replacement: PQ35 was not a complete redesign from PQ34, but rather a significant advancement

As I said a modified (heavily) version of the PQ34 👍🏻😉

What I actually got wrong was the mk5, which I got the timing wrong for, I couldn’t remember off the top of my head if MQB was out for mk5 or mk6

Also B8 Passat was first MQB around 2015/16.

B6 & B7 Passat are PQ46

A4 has always been longitudinal layout so completely different platform to Octavia.
