Hid to led headlights upgrade. what do people use in 2025?

Featured Replies

Just wondering what people have tried, specifically if anyone went from an older led to something released recently and had a positive experience.

I'm currently using sinoparcel d3s leds for almost a year, went from not being sure if the headlights are on to just about what every other car on the road outputs these days.

Photos and comparisons are welcome

Hi , I have a 2019 Skoda Superb and I must say the headlights are terrible.

I have written to Skoda with no reply asking them what is wrong with the car headlights.

The supplying Skoda dealer has checked the headlights and all within specification.

The headlights are really bright but no range , but if your are into bird watching in the trees they are fabulous.

The headlights are Bi Xenon

It's really lucky I don't drive the car in the winter months , I am mostly out of the country.

Soo, i can say confidently that no xenon replacement bulb will fix how dim these feel. I tried all the expensive xenons already.

It must be a skoda thing as the old fabia i drove to the stealers to trade in also had tragic halogen bulb range even with the 200% philips bulbs.

Try out some leds. They're around £35-50 for a pair on amazon now from some brands that don't sound like a keyboard thrown down the stairs. The passenger side will be a bit tricky to pull out but is possible without taking anything off. Come back with some photos for comparison please!

If you want to remain legal then leds no go, I manually adjusted my headlights with the screw and much better, I’ve also got osram nbl laser, there’s a newer version now which is brighter yet

Also make sure your headlights are super clean and inside windscreen

There is no fail condition for xenon headlights converted to led. Only for halogen to xenon or led. Provided the replacement led is of good quality and passes all the beam alignment tests then the only fault is not using "type approved" bulbs, but no mot tester will bother.

That's probably the major part of the issue - the designated calibration the dealers apply seems to be significantly sub-optimal.

Find a flat wall, break out the tape measure and set them up yourself - you should be able to get a useful coverage without incurring the wrath of the MoT tester.

Also worth remembering that for early mk3s, the xenon bulbs are likely to be past their best and giving a reduced output.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with that.

If aimed correctly, the bi-xenon headlights have a good spread and throw.

Have a look at the vids below, from my MY17 Superb.

The factory Osram D3S xenon bulbs r good.

Upgraded Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 D3S xenon bulbs r much better.

Upgraded J.W.Speaker D3S LED bulbs r really great!!

Vid of factory xenons....

Vid of Phillips xenons.....

Vid of J.W.Speaker LEDs.....

Sounds like you’s need to align your headlights better

I got the matrix lights on MY2019 Superb and they are awesome. Have full view of the road.
