Need help with auto adjusting xenons

Featured Replies

Hi, so, exactly a week ago, a bought a new Octavia, after my first one was destroyed in an accident. So, this car had auto adjusting Xenon headlights, and i’m pretty sure that the problem was there when I bought it, but it appeared as a fault after checking and disconnecting the fuse for headlights. So, i have obdeleven, and the error is 01539 — headlights were not adjusted - no or incorrect basic settings/adaptation. So i tried pretty much everything, even disassembled the motors, but still, can’t get rid of the error, when i start the car up, the lights go down and then into the middle. When they go down, the motors do this BRRRRRRR sound, like, it would like to turn more, but can’t. In obdeleven, when i do basic settings, the learning is already running. I tried to jack the car up, because of the sensors, nothing. So if you guys have any ideas, i would absolutely love any suggestions. And please, don’t say: take it to the mechanic, the problem is, I am kinda the mechanic, i work at a Mechanic’s shop, where i’m the car electrician, so this should be my job :D. I can borrow VCDS if it is required, but my friend who has it, lives 3hrs away, so i’d borrow it only when i’m sure it’s what i need. To clarify: my car is a 2005 Skoda Octavia mk.2 -2.0L TDI - BKD. I’d br more then happy to share any more deets if required. I’d seriously appreciate any help, because I can’t figure this out.

When starting with the lights on they should go in and out and then up and down i.e. there are four separate movements. Other than that I can't really help.

Not on a 2005 Octavia. The headlights will only go up and down.

The turning lights were only introduced on the facelift around 2009.

Try to disconnect and reconnect the controller which is probably in behind the hvac controls.

Aight, will try, so far i’ve tried disconnecting the battery, and i’ve discovered when i was changing wheels, that the suspension spring is broken, will replace it tomorrow, maybe that’s it because of like sensor or something? I’m not sure how the auto adjust lights work, it’s my first time dealing with them.

There’s a sensor or sensors connected to the wishbones. (front/rear) The arms move under load. These will need to be disconnected anyway if you are doing suspension work so you’ll get the idea. I tend to undo the bolts instead of prizing the plastic knuckle off as they can break. These tell the controller what to do which in turn tells the lights what to do.
