Engine management light..

Featured Replies

Hi folks 149km Vrs diesel 2015 engine management lightjust came on. This is my second vrs. Just sold first with 200 miles going like a storm. Its a constant amber light that's on. I'm not too worried but what are the groups thoughts. Also what oil is everyone using at the minute?

Good morning, welcome to the forum.

As the MIL indicator can mean a number of faults, you will need to get the DTCs read to narrow down what is wrong.

I assume your first vRS had done 200K miles?

You should be worried, it will fail the MOT

Hi so as I mentioned above I wasnt worried, with good reason firstly amber light isn't an "nct" failure. It was an intermittent cooler pump failure. 1 of 3 pumps on the coolant loop. Alot of scare mongering ive noticed . Anyway I just wanted to update the Skoda group on my intermittent failure fault.

Didn't realise you're not in the UK

Any VW spec 507 engine oil should be OK - it's specified in the Owners Handbook for the diesel engine with DPF.

I've used both Shell HX-8 and the Castrol Edge equivalent.

+1 for Shell HX8 5W30, only started running it but been really impressed with it, engine is so smooth even though it only has 4000km until it needs changing

Yes in Ireland , if different colour engine management light ie. Red it would fail. Appreciate feed back on oil folks i had dpf and map in last car . This one is completely standard so noticing different torque but will keep standard for now. I did fit 245/45/18 tyres and they are so comfy in comparison to the 40mm height.
