Tax disc burning.....

Featured Replies

I've got my taxdisc in one of those ripspeed alloy tax disc holder and ever since its started getting sunnier the tax disc has start to turn brown, it now looking a bit burnt and crispy....

I'm wondering if the windscreen is acting like as magnifying glass on it.... :P

Looks a bit liek it doesn't it.

Take it there isn't a bit of plastic above the disk? THe only other thing i can suggest is using a normal holder as maybe the heat can get away better. I am guessing a lump of aluminum will get pretty hot and heat the paper more than just a plastic holder.

i have a richbrook one and it is is as clear as it was on first day... Cant be due to aluminium...

I'm thinking its todo with the gap between the windscreen and the tax disc and also the shape of the windscreen, could be like having a manifying glass over it....though not as powerfull.....

Don't know. It strikes me that it won't bleach itself back to rights though. Have you taken a copy and the printed number off it before it becomes unreadable? Could ask at the post office if you can have a new one perhaps?

As the offence is that of not displaying the disc, rather than of not having one, the PO might know where you stand if you're only displaying a bit of toasted paper...

 You guys have got it all wrong! I'm not bothered in the slightest!  Its still pefectly readable.

I get it. I wish I had one!

It's the new craze - toasted tax discs!

The Police / Traffic Wardens / Street Cleaners (whoever it is that's allowed to hand out fines now) may think it's a fake due to it not looking like every other tax disc in the country. So you could end up with a letter from the DVLA due to you having what looks like a tea bag in the normal position of your tax disc.

Its Photochromatic acetone which tints with the heat and turns clear in cold weather..............................and .......

Could be!!!

Stop laughing!!

When you make your own you've gotta expect some early failures - get back to the computer and run another off

The previous one in my Mondeo faded quiet badly and didnt look that great. Have not seen the tax disc go brown though.

Next door had a suprise last night though, both the cars parked on her drive now have brown reg plates. Both were made at different times, ones on a 1995 Metro and the other on a 52 plate E Class with a cherished reg, one front and one rear affected.

It's got a Suntan.................:D .......Should have used Factor 50...

Get some marmite on it and eat it

 As long as it last you another 5 weeks....who cares???:D
