Retrofits update

Featured Replies

Hi, some updates after the latest retrofits: Direct TPMS, heated steering wheel and front seats work; blind spot after checking harness and putting back with index B does Not!

Furthermore:

- front assist

- lane assist

- rear camera and 360º area view

Don’t work too!

I dunno what to think: I’m afraid I’ll have to ask to reset the whole BCM and start coding from beginning!

Any idea/suggestion?

If you don't share an auto scan here and say how some of your retrofits were coded and what doesn't work, nobody can give you serious information

I know but I don’t have it right now! I’ll post it tomorrow

Why don't you do one retrofit at a time? What you're doing is unnecessary troubleshooting.

Another update: yesterday new mechanic sent me a video, saying everything was restored before the latest retrofits (heated steering wheel and seats). Now everything is working, he will try to enable the Blind Spot (Side Assist) and replacing the Steering ring for heating specific for the Karoq (the one with L at the end). He also told me old mechanic, didn't connect all the plugs between ring and steering wheel (that's why there was no communication with BCM), left several harness unconnected and/or cut and/or bad connected to the gateway and dunno what else!

So it looks like the BS project will litterally see the light!

Thank You for supporting and inspiring me!

New update: After a couple of replacements of the spiral rings and the steering column (both purchased separately, the steering column switch), the third attempt (with the steering column and steering column from another Karoq) worked flawlessly, and I restored EVERYTHING, and still EVERYTHING works even better than before!

I also replaced the understeer control unit, the one that controls the Travel Assist, because from what I've read around/seen on YouTube, it's due to the sporadic TA malfunction, and so far I'm not experiencing any problems. I also purchased another chip on Aliexpress that allows semi-autonomous driving (level 2, like the one I already have) for a longer duration of up to 8 minutes, if not unlimited, but I preferred not to install it for two reasons:

1) If it works now, I didn't want to disassemble everything again if the new one didn't work;

2) The new chip is for the MQB Evo: the guy in the video who recommended it has a Golf 8 GTI and, according to him, there are no incompatibilities. This chip comes, as mentioned, from AE, and the reviews are still very favorable!

Seeing BS working is awesome too!

Seeing all the ADAS active (third photo) is certainly impressive...!

CCS?? You mean normal Cruise Control (the 3rd type)? If this, I will!

Hope the screen swap will be possible!
