Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk managed to cover 2,381 km (1,759 miles) on a single tank of fuel, driving from Lodz to Paris and back.

That's 2.33 litres/100 km, or 100 mpg.

I thought I did pretty well to get 957 miles from a tank in mine (1.5 eTSI), but that's another level altogether!

I once got 920 miles from a tank full in my 150 TDI estate. I usually get about 800 miles from a tank without trying.

Obviously I'm going to have to up my game now.

You have to wonder about the extent of "extreme truck tailgating" necessary in this record.

I spent as long scrolling through and turning off all the cookies as he did driving that distance!

I once slipstreamed a coach for over 120 miles along the M4 motorway in the UK and got 77mpg from my old Volvo S60 2.4 turbo petrol. Normally I'd be lucky to get 32mpg on a long run. It's far too dangerous and would never do it now.

The thread title says PETROL, but it was a TDI using DIESEL.
