Kessy locking keys in car

Good point. I tried my own car again this morning: unlocked it, put the key on the passenger seat and stood and watched. Six minutes later nothing had happened. So it’s definitely inconsistent, whatever it’s supposed to be doing.

Let's not forget that leaving the key inside the car while washing the car, is a (widely used) way to avoid the car locking and unlocking + folding/unfolding mirrors.

Well I've managed to lock my key in my car AND the boot on separate occasions, and can confirm the above is BS, both times I had to find a way home to get my spare key to unlock 😠

With the key on the passenger seat it would likely be detected by the sensor (near the cup holders I believe).

What would happen if the key were left on the back seat or in the boot?

I’ve not experienced any issues or keys locked (yet) but when I get a chance will try a few tests too.

Both times my key was in a jacket pocket, could be why it wasn't detected, although I'd left it in such a way on countless occasions prior with no issues... Definitely a head scratcher

I do not know where the antennas for the kessy are located in our cars, I had to work time ago on an A8 D3 which had problems and I found four outside antennas, two each behind the bumpers, and the other two at the sides - around the B-pillar.

This in addition to the handle buttons.

If a similar setup is used, there is no way a key left in the boot would not be detected by the antenna there.

And no, if it is ramdom you can open/close a zillion times, and will not do it, just to drive you mad ...🙃

Yes. When my original problem occurred a couple of weeks ago, the key was actually in the cup holder, so certainly should have been detected.
