Swapped Superb for Kodiaq

Featured Replies

Decided in February after 8 years and almost 90k miles of Superb ownership it was time for a change. Found myself a 22 plate 2.0 TDI L&K Kodiaq in Grey with just under 28k miles on the clock. 8 months on and I’m extremely happy with it. Me and my wife find it more comfortable than the Superb and as we’re both getting a bit long in the tooth it’s certainly easier to get in and out of it. It’s very quiet, quick when you want it to be and more economical than the Superb. I used it for the first time at night last month and those led headlights are fantastic. Forgot to dip them at one point and couldn’t work out why I wasn’t getting flashed until I realised the lights were adjusting themselves to not dazzle oncoming traffic - didn’t bother dipping them after that!

Couple of minor irritations - drive mode always resets to ‘drive’ when ignition turned off so have given up selecting ‘eco’ and although the acc and traffic sign recognition system works well on the whole, it does have a habit of slowing or braking the car momentarily when it shouldn’t. Other than that, it’s a brilliant car. Oh, I forgot to mention - it’s also a great tow car.

Hi @Albourneboy I am also long in the tooth and have considered changing from the Superb to the Kodiaq for reasons like better entry etc. However I also suffer from arthritis in my ankle which makes the pedal positions in some of the Korean SUVs Ive tried more upright and more difficult for me to use after a short time.

Have you found the pedal positions and angles similar on the Kodiaq to the Superb?

I haven’t really noticed any difference so I guess they must be very similar. Being an auto, my left foot lives on the footrest and as I use the cruise control an awful lot, my right foot is on the flat on the floor a lot of the time. Even on the pedals, it’s normally at the ‘correct’ angle relative to my leg so you should be ok

I don't have the same feeling. I also moved from a Superb Mk3 to a Kodiaq Mk1. I don't find the Kodiaq as comfortable as the Superb, especially on long motorway trips, event if both DCC equipped. The Kodiaq is a bit stiffer than the Superb, which swallows any small bumps, whatever Normal or Comfort mode. The Kodiaq remains a SUV, whereas the Superb is miles eater, a great touring car.

Regarding the pedals. I think they're the same on both cars, but considering that the Kodiaq seats may be a bit more in an upright position and/or higher from the car floor. It may explain why you feel it's different regarding your ankle angle.

I agree with you regarding the suspension though my Superb had 19 inch wheels and low profile tyres which didn’t help comfort wise so I’ve not really noticed a lot of difference. The Kodiaq does seem ‘stiffer’ though and corners well for an SUV

I forgot to say:

My ex-Superb Mk3 : 19" summer wheels / 17" winter wheels

My Kodiaq Mk1 : 193 wheels (both winter & summer wheels)

“For an SUV” speaks volumes…

(Full disclosure, I’m not an SUV fan, but see my sig below)
