Halogen to Bi-LED

Featured Replies

Hi!

I ran into a problem, please help.

I rebuilt my headlights from halogen to Bi-LED. I swapped out both the low and high beams, and after I turn on my high beams, the low beams start to rapidly flash. It doesn’t happen every time, only sometimes, so I thought it might be a loose connection somewhere. But I wiggled all the cables and everything works fine when I’m standing still. After a few seconds of flashing, I get an error for both headlights.

Fun fact: if I use the lever to flash the high beams and hold it, everything works fine. The issue only appears when I turn them on normally.

After that, I thought it could be the CANbus, so I put a resistor in front of the low beams — the problem still happens, but now it doesn’t show any error anymore. Then I put a resistor in front of the high beams, and it started flashing the low beams without even turning on the high beams, so I removed them.

Now I don’t know if the projectors are faulty or if the CANbus system has some kind of compatibility issue and needs to be coded.

Thank you for your help!

You need to change the value in the correct Leuchte adaptation channels to tell the bulb monitoring that you have LEDs not Halogen bulbs.

Not sure about the situation in Slovakia, but the non-projector headlamps are not approved for LED bulbs, so that might be a legal problem for you (it certainly would be in the UK).

poor LED bulbs that cannot handle PWM

Thank you for the suggestion! I coded my headlights to LED, and now they work perfectly.
These are the codes I used, in case someone is interested.

I used OBDeleven

Navigate to adaptation in the central electrics module to find these Leuchte-sets.

Leuchte6ABL LC5 (left-side low beam) and Leuchte7ABL RB1 (right-side low beam)

Changing these settings

  • Lasttyp: 11 Abblendlicht > 5 LED Abblendlicht

  • Dimmwert AB: 100 > 127
