FABIA audio system

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I recently upgraded my audio system of my Fabia Comfort.

First, I added a set of rear speakers (SONY F693N). They are really great.

I also replaced my front speakers with KENWOOD 1399ie.

I only have one problem:

I didn't replace the front tweeters and when I increase the volume I can hear the distortion coming out of the front-right tweeter.

Is there a way to disable the stock tweeters and only play with the KENWOOD speakers (what the crossover cabling will be?) or I should get myself a set of new tweeters?

You should be able to pop the door card or tweeter cover then disconnect them from there. Failing that you can trace the wiring back to the original split and disconnect them there.

I'd imagine the HU has a crossover built in that will send the higher frequencies to the tweeters only, so by just disabling them the kenwoods might not take up the slack - the wiring's in so why not upgrade them too

Out of interest, what are the stock speaker sizes and did the Sony/Kenwood combo fit perfectly first time?

I'm not so sure that the headunit would have a crossover in it. With an upgraded headunit the tweeters still work fine, and also there are not enough pins on the speaker connector for there to be a crossover.

I bet they are just wired in parallel.

I bet they are just wired in parallel.

In that case disabling them would work fine.
