Full Electric Window Retrofit on Skoda Felicia – Advice Needed

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to upgrade my Skoda Felicia (currently all manual windows) to fully electric windows for all doors. I need advice on compatible parts, wiring, and installation.

Here are my main concerns:

  • Window regulators/motors: which parts are compatible for front and rear windows? Are there OEM Felicia options, or should I use regulators from other VAG models?

  • Door wiring: can I use the existing harness for all four motors, or do I need to run new power lines, fuses, and relays?

  • Switches: should I install aftermarket switches for each door or are there OEM options for controlling all windows from the front?

  • Mounting and door modifications: do the doors require any adjustments to fit the regulators, or do they fit directly?

  • Sealing & moisture barriers: any tips for reinstalling the plastic sheets and preventing leaks?

  • Potential issues: any common pitfalls, like motor overload, alignment problems, or trim clearance?

If anyone has done a full electric window retrofit on a Felicia or a similar Skoda/VW model, your guidance would be highly appreciated. Photos, diagrams, or part numbers would be a huge help!

Thanks in advance!

I advise to go oem simplified route

ok, but where i can buy it?

Window regulators are available and basic 6pin switches will do, I think you get power from fuse 18

What is the price of these window regulators?

I have aftermarket, work perfect.

The kt fits with no modifications.

A piece of thick nylon can do the job, use strong double-side adhesive tape, check the drain holes to be full open.

The originals are the best from comfort standpoint - they have touch auto roll up/down with pinch protection, IMO, electric windows without that are pointless.

Here's an installation guide in Czech, that includes wiring diagrams as well - it should be easy to translate with Google.

It's also possible to modify the regulators to rear doors just by swapping the rear rail onto them and they allow for secondary button, since the same motors were used in VW T4 (but with different window mechanism)

The disadvantage is that they are hard to come by and they weren't cheap. You may be able to get second hand, but the plastic Bowden tube is often damaged - but it's repairable and there are 3rd party spares available.

There were also some conversion kits sold by Skoda themselves, which had metal tubes and were also available for rear windows, but those are probably even harder to get. The last option is generic conversion kit that just turns the crank for you. These all have same basic connection, where the button itself turns the voltage and all you need to do is get 2 wires to the door.

Auto roll-up is good as long as it doesn't overly strain the motor at the travel limits. Manual roll-up is much safer in terms of regulator reliability! I've never seen broken regulators on manually operated power windows, while auto movement tends to fail quite often!

That has more to do with poor quality of the mechanism on the electric windows. For some reason, they used harder and thinner plastic on the tube and it can crack just from flex during installation (ask me how I know).

I replaced mine with tube from a manual mechanism and it worked well.

Very interesting, didnt ever think of that, when I open up my doors for regular cleaning and greasing I will snap some photos

We are talking about the plastic regulator that slides on the rail?

The factory mechanism works by pushing a metal spiral through plastic tube. That plastic tube always snaps on the electric regulator due to poor quality.imgnd_127257.jpg

Manual regulator has thicker and softer tube, so they aren't damaged that often.

On my other felicia, the plastic tube was disintegrating

Could very well be, but the termination is the issue here

For me it's the rattle noise when the driver's window is 3 fingers down,in all the other positions is Ok but while driving in City the noise is continuous and makes me crazy.

Loose guides on the rails, I have it myself

But why in only in a specific part of the rail?

That plastic guide in beige colour?

Yeah, its because you crack the window open a little bit more often than you do the full sweep

So we must replace them with another material? metal perhaps?

If so what about friction-lubrication issues with the rail?
