AC turns itself on when i adjust the heat dial.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Sometimes when i adjust the heat dial on the Heater/Fan/Direction control panel, the AC turns itself on for some reason.

And the air recirculation button lights up too, i can easily turn them both off once the buttons are lit, but its a little annoying while driving.

Any idea why?

Skoda Fabia MK3 (2015)

Not experienced this myself but it could be the automatic humidity control.

On my car the a/c comes on when the max air to screen button is pressed and the humidity is high.

To reduce the humidity in the cabin, the a/c is used to produce cold air to condense out the water vapour to liquid water. The dryer air is then heated to the set temperature before going to the cabin/windows.

On days where moisture has "misted up" the windows, manually switching on the a/c and a higher fan speed (without adjusting the air temperature) will very quickly demist the windows.

Quite normal.

Especially with the air flow direction pointing straight up to the screen.

Or if you turn the temperature down to cold.

This is the norm on my own 2011 Octavia too ....... 👍

Yeap, it's another PITA of the car being designed to take over from the driver, really annoys me the few times I drive my wife's 2015 Fabia.
