Hi, welcome.

Things have moved in the last 30 years, forward, back and sideways but the basics remain the same and available for much DIYing. Even more important now to read the Driver's Handbook ('Owner's Manual') to avoid unnecessary and expensive visits to Dealership/garage/mechanics/auto-electricians - and to look after the 12v battery(ies).

2014 keeps you in with better odds than later years. I remember a mate having a Superb and at the time it seem such a big car, not now of course with all the modern "SUV" tanks. If you've not already seen it Briskoda has a Superb section also with a Mk3 forum.
