Xenon headlight sensor

Featured Replies

My MK1 Laurin Klem has failed MOT because the headlight beam automatic adjustment sensor thing is broken. I'm really struggling to find one. It's not the same a golf one. The part is specific and was made only for this model by the looks of it. Part is 1U0907503

and I also need the linkage rod that connects to it but I don't have the part number for that. Sorry I don't know if I posted this in the right place and thanks if anyone can help me.

Thanks Mike. Frustratingly though I can't find any on there that are good for MK1.

It's the only thing that's preventing it passing MOT. I'll be gutted if I have to scrap it.

What is your engine code?

Also, are you looking for front or rear level sensors?

Front. Didn't think it had a back one.

I'm not sure about engine code. I'm not with the car right now. It's a hatchback. 1.9tdi EX04ZRA

Wow thanks a million.

I found this https://www.drive2.ru/l/651112919978752952/

and I think the part number for the rod is this 1J0941285C

i asked the garage to take a pic of it. they had previously said it's mangled but I haven't seen it yet.

You might find this parts catalogue page (2004 Octavia mk1 headlamp control) helpful also:
https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/ALL/OCT/252/9/941/941025

This one shows all the vehicles sharing the same part - in this case the control arm 1J0941285C

https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/1j0941285c/linkage-for-headlight-range-control-1j0941285c

FYI this is the catalogue page for a 2007 mk2 Octy and the front levelling system is clearly different to your mk1.

Surprised it failed an MOT as both my vRS and my old L&K have never worked. But, the light adjustment does within the headlight. You should see these go up and down with ignition and light on. Just ask them to set the beam pattern manually and it should pass.

That way you can look into getting the parts you need as they are quite difficult to get hold of now.

thanks both.

yes lights go up and down on the igingition and I think without the sensor conncected up they would have rested in the right position but the MOT tester was insisting it wouldn't pass without it all working as it's supposed to. Thanks to Mike I got the sensor delivered from Czech. Friendly parts guy at Lookers Guildford confirmed the part number for the rod 1J0941285C and advised that the last one in the country is at Johnsons Stafford in case anyone else finds this post in the future and needs one they could try there. I ended up buying a 1J0941285D . new old stock from ebay which seems to be identical. We now have a MOT! 🎉
