Headlights dazzling other road users?

Featured Replies

I have a 2023 Scala Monte Carlo with the LED Crystal Lighting headlights (not Matrix). I've noticed an increase in other cars flashing as though I have my full beams on at night, and especially in the rain.

The lights are self levelling, so I can't adjust them. Am I blinding everyone else? Anyone else have this problem?

All you can do is:

Check the setting if you have any control to tell the car if it's loaded or not.

Park on a flat surface and mark the position of the dipped beams on a wall. Then turn on main beam and mark those positions. You should be able to see the dipped beam is clearly dipped.

If you think the dip is misaligned or not working then it's a trip to the dealer.

Note: LED lights are causing a lot of complaints from those who still don't have LED's

I think the main source of DVSA complaints is incorrectly adjusted LEDs/HIDs - or lights illegally converted with lamps that were not designed for them.

That's part of the issue, but I thinking the majority is that they are just 'too bright' or too much of a contrast in the dark. I've noticed they are a real problem on some very new'ish cars on roads with inclines and dips. I'm regularly dazzled by cars appearing on a 60mph A road where I'm going up the hill and the LEDs are twinkling at me.

By far the worst seems to be Tesla's... I'm not sure if they have slightly different standards in the US but I can pretty much guarantee if a car dazzles me coming the other way it's a Tesla
