2023 2L 200PS TDI DSG 4x4 60k km Service

Featured Replies

My 2023 TDI DSG 4x4 is coming up to it's 2nd year 60k km Service...

I'm assuming it will need some sort of DSG service?

What about the 4x4 is there anything to do?

Is there somewhere I can see what to expect the garage to do?

Thanks in advance,

Gabbo CH

Yes there are Haldex service options as well as DSG service options.

DSG (DQ381 which you’ll have) is 80k miles. It used to be 40k miles for the pre facelift DQ250 (6speed) but this has been changed for the 7speed. There doesn’t seem to be any sensible rationale discussed on here as being a good reason for change and so most people proactively stick to the 40k limit. It’s up to you however. Personally, if you’re approaching 37/38k miles I’d get it done but it’s your choice.

Haldex used to be every 3 years but this was shortened to 2 years (well my Dealer always emailed me about it every other year) so that will be due at the same time. There are mileage alternatives which I’m not sure about but mine has done on average 12k miles between those and has always looked like it needed it.

Now - the official service manual includes changing the oil but doesn’t include time for removing the pump and cleaning a filtering gauze which is attached to the end of it. Without cleaning, it will still flow oil slowly and contaminate the fresh oil quicker. Advice has always been to look for a local VAG specialist and check they will do that for you. Mine did and took before and after pics.

Mine has done just over 60k miles. I haven't done a DSG service yet but I've kept it under the Skoda All In warranty just in case it does go pop, there's certainly not been any sign of it yet. Done 2 Haldex services (every 30k miles). The first time the filter was quite dirty and definitely needed doing but the second time it was pretty clean and probably hardly needed doing.

Guess the nature of your driving has an impact here.

Yeah I’ll definitely be one of the ones with a heavier right foot and having to transfer the power to the rear will bring in the clutch which will be the contaminant I think.

As an aside, there are reports of dealers offering to clean but I think there’s a negotiation on price as they won’t book/charge for it as standard.

Mine has historically been a motorway plodder so probably fairly easy on the Haldex overall.

It will probably take a fair bit more of a shooing now it's mainly used by the wife who doesn't like to hang around, albeit now doing an overall lower mileage.

Yes I have heard of some dealers being happy to do (reports suggest my local VW dealer does) it but you will have to agree the price with them as if you just book a standard Haldex service with them then all they will do is change the oil.

Thanks for your inputs.

My car is a keeper but basically a motorway cruiser so light use.

I think I'll ask them for the DSG service and Haldex (if they will do it).

I have another 2 years of manufacturer warranty but I'm all for preventative maintainence rather than repair..

One of the reasons I asked about the DSG service was i have the feeling that some of the gear changes are a bit jerky sometimes and not as smooth as before.

I'm always very light with the throttle and mostly drive with ACC active and was thinking a service might get it back to the sweet spot.
