DPF ON CAR CLEAN ADVICE XX

Featured Replies

Put cleaner through my 14 plate 1.6 TDI DPF via the pressure pipe and it seemed to go ok.

However I don't have the equipment to reset the dpf values.

Does that matter??

What would be the cheapest equipment or way of me performing that action ???

Or anyone around Liverpool city region able to help me out ?? For a bob or two of course.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated 👍 👍

If you go search in the other parts of the forum, you will find people local to you who have VCDS. Otherwise, you need somebody locally who has ODBEleven.

If you have a VAG vehicle, I suggest that you go purchase an ODBEleven dongle yourself. An ODBEleven Gen2 will be fine. I think you will need to go to the Pro plan to get access to reset the metrics for the DPF in Module 01 Engine, but I could be wrong here. At the time of writing, they have a 25% discount deal on.

There is a posting at https://forum.obdeleven.com/thread/5807/reset-dpf-calculated-value which shows you how to reset the values. Its module 1 when you reset the values.

Appreciate you have put some cleaner through, but I suggest firstly, run on some super diesel for a while (for the cleaners and additives) and take your TDI on a bit of a trip along the M62 to get it nice and hot. Remember; the values are calculated values, so whilst the cleaner will try and get rid of as much soot as possible, a car of your year and running around a city is not good for it. In an ideal world, you should really get the DPF cleaned out. You should probably pay about £300-400 to get this done. My advice long term, take your vehicle out for a good long fast run along the motorway for an hour or so (try to cover at least 70-100 miles) and allow the car to do its own regen.

Thanks for this, yeah car on 200k aswell as being old lol.

About a year ago it was just regening all the time like every 10 miles it was unmanageable so I try to take it on good run when it regens.

Everyone said a year ago oh you need a new dpf or have to get it mapped out etc etc.

I stook at it with put cleaner in and eventually it unblocked as was back to regen every 200 miles or so.

Now a year later it's getting a bit clogged am hoping to make it last until around February when hopefully I will get it taken off like you suggest. As it's the only real way of getting the ash out.

Would clean it myself but where it is located is a bit beyond my DIY skills lol.

But cheers 👍
