Tonneau cover

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had any issues with the estate tonneau cover failing.

My first one failed under warranty and was replaced at just under 3yrs and no more.

The replacement has failed again today, so has lasted about 3.5yrs.

Both failed in the same way. If you don’t take the tension when opening, it goes off like an IED and tries to take the rear seats with it. 🤣

That describes exactly what mine does. Another item for the warranty claim now.

I haven’t priced around yet and likely won’t until after the holidays, but a genuine one looks like it’s the guts of £400, so best get it replaced while you can.

They told me it's not covered under my Skoda extended warranty. The extended warranty doesn't cover trim. I'll have to continue to leave it open. Shame it doesn't close as well as open with the boot. My Mercedes C class did. The only reason the Merc wins over the Superb.

I'm not surprised they have an excuse for excluding it - however, it could be argued it's not trim, it's a mechanical part - would the drivers seat adjustment be excluded in the same way.........?

My thoughts exactly.

In my (almost) previous life dealing with reconditioning cars and what not, I learned to be gentle with these things, way before I got to the Superb. Exactly noting how the spring makes the cover retract with excessive force, you realize is not something destined to last ...

I keep always a word out to be gentle with almost all mechanisms in a car ... pulling a handle, opening glove compartment, and such ... most people take me as a "fanatic" or whatever, but when things fail, they cost much more than a nanosecond of attention ... sometimes I wish it was not so needed, but ...
