DAB radio cuts out when switching on rear screen heater.

Featured Replies

I have a 2023 octavia vrs estate.

I have recently noticed that the DAB radio stops working when I switch on the rear screen heater. It starts again when the screen heater is turned off.

I wondered if anyone else has the same issue, and may possibly have an idea of what may cause it?

Thanks

Does the symbol light up indicating a loss of radio signal? Does it happen in a low signal area and a high signal area, or just a low signal area?

Has it always done this?

On older models there was an isolator in the feed to the rear window heating elements which were also used as one of the radio aerials, this was a known point of failure causing this sort of loss of radio when the rear window heater was on.

Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the Octavia 4 and can confirm whether this is also the case?

Hi avi4tor

There's no symbol light.

And it happens everywhere.

Hi PetrolDave

Ive had the car for 18 months, but only noticed it in the last week or so. I haven't been driving the car too much in the last 8 months as I haven't been to well.

It could easily have done it from the day I got the car, but I just haven't noticed.

I don't know if it means anything, but the car has the shark fin antenna, does this not do the DAB??

The shark fin is the GPS antenna. Configured for a completely different frequency.

The DAB antenna for the estate version is incorporated into the rear side window. At least on my mk3 Octavia 1.6 TDI of 2014.

I have the same issue. In most cases where I switch on the rear window heating, DAB Radio stops working.

I'm about to receive a new (to me) mk4 1.4 TSI PHEV estate in a week or 2. It's simply incredible to hear that this issue hasn't been solved.
