Too much oil warning on Octavia 2021

Featured Replies

Hi,

I own octavia combi 2021 2.0 tdi dsg. I had oil changed in August, and since then I had no issues until yesterday.

I was on a highway and after 100km, I got a warning that I have too much oil.

It is important to note that the temperature outside was lower than -5°C.

What could it be? I checked the oil and it is on the upper limit, but has been the same for months, and i got no warning.

Any ideas?

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Are you absolutely certain that there has been no increase in engine sump level from when it was serviced?

If there has in fact been some increase in oil level that is not explained by incorrect topping-up, the only answer is a faulty injector leaking fuel into cylinder - or internal coolant leak.

Oh it could be increased but nothing significant. If I pull oil level stick out and put it back, sensor stops reporting it for a while.

Is there any way i can self diagnose things you mentioned?

I will check it in couple of days. Thank you!

Mine has 142k km

Opening hood, then reclosing it without doing anything else will temporarily reset oil warnings for a short period.

  • Reduce engine oil to correct level.

  • Carefully monitor oil and coolant levels at frequent intervals.

  • Check oil for smell of fuel.

  • Check oil for any sign of coolant emulsification.

Please update with more information when you find out something.

We have one 2023. 2.0 tdi at home with 40k on the clock and I just ordered one new with the same engine.

How much km have you done with yours?

I have read the whole thread, thanks! We'll see, I'll go to my mechanic in couple of weeks.

Is the car on level ground when the warning occurs?

It is.

Update:

Today was 2°C, I was driving 250km on highway and 30 in the city and no warning showed up.

I drove on higher rpm for a while
