An stong noise after star running with Superb in E-Mode or Hybrid Mode

Featured Replies

My Skoda Superb IV (MK4) has a problem whose origin I haven't yet figured out.

Sometimes, and always, after the car has been stopped and after starting to move, approximately 100 meters after starting to drive, I hear and feel for 1 second a noise that seems like either the gear hasn't engaged or the car has stalled. But it's quick and difficult to explain.

It happens both in electric and hybrid mode, but curiously, in hybrid mode, only with the electric motor running.

It have happen to me 5 times since i have the car (06/12/2025) it has always been at low speed and shortly after starting to move.

Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you.

Best regards

I think the issue you're describing is the same one that I've experienced. At very low speeds, it feels like the drivetrain locks up for a moment and then it doesn't happen again. I don't hear much of a noise, but I feel the quick shock. It has also only happened to me a handful of times in the last few months. Also a brand new car.

Yes... Exactly... Do you know wath is it?

Maybe slightly off topic. Still, related to dtivetrain though. Neverthless, I wonder if you as owners of phev could do the following test.

  1. Make sure that Auto Hold is enabled.

  2. Run the car and then stop - make sure that Auto Hold is preventing the car from moving when you release brake

  3. Wait 10 or more seconds (crucial for test)

  4. Press accelerator to start car moving relatively fast (not race, just bit more than gentle start)

  5. Observe if the start is smooth - in my car it feels like clutch is suddendly engaged - quite unpleasant. Bit like a launch control procedure.

I observe it only if auto hold worked for more than approx 10 sec, if it is just short stop then start is smooth.

    Can you share your obsetvation?

I get exactly the same thing on a sportline iv. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I have now noticed, that if I use the paddles to change into 2nd gear after I initially pull away then leave it to go back into auto, it doesn’t do it. Very odd.

Steve.
