Parking lights 5W5 bulbs need adjustment?

Featured Replies

I didn't mean the extra bulb would be too bright rather that it wouldn't increase the angle the light go out at unless it is a special angled light. If you wanted more light you'd just put in one (per light unit) brighter indicator bulb. Mixing LED and incandescent bulbs on the same circuit doesn't always end well.

Orange arrow = the socket for orange bulb

Blue arrow = my idea to make a patent, installed a extra Led bulb and turn them on when i am in City at night looking for a parking space, lot a small dark side roads and danger from other drivers so these bulbs give a more wider \ / pattern in my light so let's say ''in advance'' the other drives can see (via that light) that another car is coming.

Here is an example (my photoshop)

Just so you know, adding an extra bulb in the blinkers is highly "illegal" (better wording is NON-compliant) as per EU law; Even if Greek law allows it (at least Greek law does not prohibit it), Greek law cannot substitute the pan-European homologation standards. These and brake lights are some of the strictest when it comes to homologation... That is why I never installed LEDs on blinkers and brake lights.

I would be very much afraid to do something like this if I were being honest.

Read ECE R148

I have no intention to travel in the EU with my Felicia, i know that Traffic Police will stop me.

I have in side indicator (orange) super bright, very visible at night and saviour in corners but they need a relay otherwise they ''click'' faster than factory ones.

In Brake lights i have tested but didn't worked so good and removed them (the design of the plastic cover is old and halogen bulbs work better).

Well, fair enough, I had to let you know, though.

😄 Isn't Greece in the EU then.

Did you use red LEDs behind red lenses on brake lights?

In GR these things aren't checked. 99.99% of cops have no idea what type approval is and think type approval is provided by the Ministry of Transport, or worse they think that they have more regulatory authority than MOT, which ofcourse is not the case.
In reality, the regulatory authority in terms of vehicles (not road traffic act) goes something like this.

1 E.E.C. Legislation

2 Ministry of Transport of the homologating member state (E8 for the Czech Republic, for example)

3 Ministry of Transport of the importing member state.

4 Technical Test Centres of the importing member state.

5 Local law enforcement. Cause as the name suggests, they are meant to enforce the law, which is legislated by the above parties...

We don't want EU (nor the ΙΜF),we never did but politicians decide for it without asking us.

EU tries to alter our society bringing other ways of life to ruin the institution of the Family, to change our Race our customs and religion, to falsify our history and our traditions, to make us dependent on the USA and to make us give money to neo-Nazi Ukrainians.

Led red bulbs instead of standard halogen, the led never worked so good (brightness) due to the old design on the plastic glass.

Those extra socket-bulbs are not visible even at bright daylight.

Well EU is one of the best things that could happen, free trade, free travel etc. BUT you correcty point out its heading in a wrong direction

I remembered Antzela Demetriou about the EU ''well, now we could go for shopping dresses in the foreign stores" (outside GR), so all these years before EU that was her main problem?

As for ''Free travel'' ask the people in North GR for the buses with Bulgarians full of beggars-thieves and in the end of the day return back with pockets ''full".

You were unborn where the people (Pasok) that put us in the EU were screaming hysterical against it but when they learn that the whole case has a lot of money (grants) they signed with both hands and became reach in a year.

As for my extra light are these:

Yes I follow that but you need to put red LEDs behind red plastic or glass lenes and amber LED behind amber lenses, did you do that?

As i have said I have done it, didn't worked (not so bright).

and amber LED behind amber lenses

I have done it, perfect result super bright but they blink faster due to relay lack.

Life-saver in emergency situations (e.g stopped after a turn).

It's like pulling teeth with you sometimes - obviously you don't have to answer, and you haven't, perhaps if I'm clearer, more direct.

Did you use red LEDs behind the red lenes?

Did you use amber LEDs behind amber lenes (if the lenses are amber)?

Yes and Yes (for third time i post it).

Red led bulds (for brakes) removed after few months and amber led bulbs (indicators) are still in use for about 8 years.

The posisiton of these Parking lights and their socket.

Since is round shape and has no notches when i find the chance i will try to make a rotation to see if there is an improvement in the beam pattern.

Thanks. Sorry I didn't see that as the reply previously.

As for the record: i had changed the Halogen bulbs for Reverse with cheap Led, due to price or the design of the plastic cover they didn't work good.

Mediocre illumination so i install back the original.

Before I broke the gearbox reversing light switch using a long Mac knuckle saver 22 mm combination spanner my neighbour lent me I had LED bulbs in my reversing lights equivalent to the 21w incandesce originals and the LEDs were very bright, too bright really but they lit the are well and anyone would certainly see them as they approached.

Strong reverse light helps the camera too in some situations as very dark area-light rain-fog etc.

With the factory mirror parking in cases like these was a nightmare and 2 times i have crushed my rear lights pastic cover (one in a wall and one in a trash (garbage) bin handle which was metallic, nowadays are plastic.

P21W i think is the code for Felicia.

Reverse Light Replacement 1997 Skoda Felicia LXi 1.3L 4 Cyl.

Edited by D.FYLAKTOS

Perhaps the reverse bulbs over here were 18w for some and not 21w, or could be either I forget now, but If you need say a 18w bulb and are using a 5w then it will be very dim in comparison.

Have you got these stilly smoked finish lenses to look cool and restrict light getting out (great idea for indicators and brake lights). You get that finish free if you own an Aldi or VW diesel. 😁

The ''dark area" is factory, not artificial.

piloto_trasero_izquierdo_skoda_felicia_b

I have seen in the past ''crystal clear'' aftermarket lights in CZ stores.
