Michelin Crossclimate 3s

Featured Replies

Could have tagged this on to an existing thread but as the tyre specific ones aren't about the CC 3s specifically and others that mention tyres aren't really about this make and model's performance. Anyway, with that out of the way......

Had a set of CrossClimate 3s fitted today. Ordered online from Blackcircles and fitted locally by a tyre fitting place.

What a difference over the crap Bridgestones that they replaced.

I felt the ride, handling and noise were improved. I appreciate that part of that improvement will be down the the greater tread depth and relatively softer rubber but no question I'm happy with my experience of them so far.

One thing that is not subjective like the aspects above is the grip. I commented in the recent "Judder" thread that the problem might have been the tyres. I talked about my experience with the Bridgestones fitted to my wife's MY23 and my own MY 22 Karoq. After I left the fitter I tried to reproduce the spinning/juddering when pulling out of junctions and just couldn't.

If you're in the market for new 'oops I think you could do a lot worse than these.

I second that. I fitted the Cross Seasons to my Touran and the difference was such that even my wife remarked on it (as a passenger). I'm waiting on delivery of my new Karoq and will probably fit to that as well.

Yes I had a set of Michelin C/C 3 sport fitted last year and the difference is like night and day. Standard tyres from the factory had poor traction and road noise. But I did get 35K out of the Bridgestone's with a some left when I changed them.

I had some life left in the old ones but really didn't like them.

Only taken this long to swap as needed to sort out the sheckles

Did a proper run in the car today and even more impressed with the tyres.

Absolutely persisting down and rock solid.

Je suis un tres joli lapin. Rabbit was as close as I could get to bunny 😄

I dumped the factory fit Bridgestone's at 9k miles for Crossclimate 2s to my MY20 21 reg 1.5tsi DSG, as they were appalling!

It was the best decision I have made about tyres. I echo the thoughts already expressed - cornering, comfort, ride, and wet, dry and cold weather handling are vastly better.

The rears have now done 39k miles and the fronts I changed again after they'd done 22k miles.

All tyres have plenty of tread left.

Pity is I have 19" crater alloys and Crossclimate 3s aren't available in 225R19 so I'm thinking Crossclimate 3 sports when I change.

Best fitted price I found recently was £400 for 2, £800 for 4 fully fitted.

(lapinou would be a good French word for bunny!)

£758 all in from Black Circles

That's a great price @Viffer800 !

Was that for 225/40R19s?

215/50R18

They are asking £230 per tyre for 225/40R19s CC3 Sport but have a 15% discount atm

https://www.blackcircles.com/tyres/225-40-19

That's £782 or as near as dammit so not much less than you've found elsewhere. But £18 is £18

Brilliant, thanks. Got a month or two so I guess I'll make sure I check out Blackcircles when the time comes.

I took of my Bridgestones after 500 miles from new, and replaced with CC3 Sport. Much much better. Selling the Bridgestones hopefully….

Not sure who would want the Bridgestones. Eventually I I took mine to local ATS who, after chatting to the manager about Crossclimates didn't change me!! Result.

Costco on offer C/C 3 sport 225/40/ 19Y 93 XL £659.97 Great price I think.

@vulcan Yes, an excellent price.

Shame I'm not a member.

I have not yet tried a set of all season tyres but last time round did consider Cross Climate 3s - so it's good to read all the positive comments here. The last few times I have gone for Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance which I have found quiet, comfortable, and economical, and not (yet) found them lacking in grip. It's the increasingly unpredictable weather that gets me thinking about C/C3s.

One question - any thoughts on the impact they have on fuel economy?

@SteveTheElder I didn't find a great difference in fuel economy between the OE Bridgestones and the CrossClimate 2s I had fitted at 8,900 miles.

I'm on 47,700 now but have moved house since and am doing a much greater proportion of short journeys. Long term I have achieved 42.5mpg, but get 50mpg on a long motorway run (1.5tsi engine and DSG gearbox.)

For me it don't seem to make much difference to fuel consumption my average has stayed at about 37 mpg but its all short runs I do in winter with 8k a year total

Thanks for your comments on fuel economy. There are so many variables but I did notice an improvement when I switched from Continental to the Goodyear. Most of my mileage is long trips, often a high proportion of steady speed on dual carriageways and motorways.

I put cc2 on an EV and might have lost .1 mile per kWh, but it’s hard to tell.

That would be a 3% loss, but that was from super slippery EV tyres, to got some grip in the cold all seasons.

You can’t have everything and I used to run summer/winter. For the UK a good AS means you don’t have to buy and store wheels. Not as efficient as EV tyres, not as good on compacted snow/ice as full winters but a good compromise in much of the UK.

That’s the cc2 too, so I imagine they’ll have improved again for the cc3

I fitted a full set of Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen-3 in October and been really pleased with them.

Cope really well with icy mornings and standing water, and lower road noise than the Continental summer tyres fitted before.

Aaag. 2 nails in front CrossClimate 3, plugged but still leaking. New tyre ordered for Friday fitting. £150. Serves me right for not getting the Pirelli self sealers.
