P0684 - Glow Plug Control Module

Featured Replies

I appreciate similar questions have been asked once or twice, just I have additional codes. I'm seeing P0684, which would indicate I need to replace the glow-duration unit (04L907282B / 0281003085). Though at the same time I have pending codes for each of the 4 glow plugs - Control Circuit Low Voltage. I expect the module is causing the 4 pending codes but thought I would check in with folks more knowledgeable than me to make sure.

Thanks in advance.

Eject control module, check resistance of each glow plug, should be few ohms. If yes replace control module.

Cool, do you happen to know the pinout of the module - which pins I need to probe? Or is this easier done from the engine bay?

Edit: Would it just be G1-4 to pin 31?

Easier to measure from controller side. There pins G1-4 on module, measure each one to ground. If infinite or more then ~10 Ohm - replace glow plug

Cheers, they were all around 2 Ohm.

Then you can replace module

E.g. Bosch 0281003085 costs much cheaper then original

Aye, it's already on order - £42 on Amazon right now.

Thanks for your help.

Just coming back to say that replacing the glow-duration module has fixed the issue. Had to reset the MIL myself - tried several starts/stops first.
